One of the reasons why you're unable to set up the budget is because of a company file issue. Make sure that your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac is updated.

1. From the QuickBooks drop-down, select Check for QuickBooks Updates.
2. Click on Install Update.
3. Select Install and Relaunch.

You can also update it through our Downloads & Updates page.

I have the latest update for QB2019 V18.0.6.3350 R7.1

However every time I select Company menu > Set Up Budget then QB crashes.

How can I fix this and set up a budget?

The steps provided by my colleague helps some data issues in QuickBooks. Since the issue persists, it's best to contact us. This way, an agent will take a look at your account and investigate this further. Here's how:

1. Go to this page: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
2. Select QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
3. Click the Search for something else field.
4. Enter QuickBooks crashes every time I select Budget.
5. Click Search.
6. Click the Get Phone Number button.
