*BUG* Emailing invoices, edit template text manually, Outlook reverts to unedited template text. Was solved, now it's back.

Hi all - the bug where you create an invoice, email it, and then edit the email in Outlook before sending, but it reverts to the template before sending is back.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create invoice, click "Email" button.

2. A draft email is created in Outlook from your default invoice template with the invoice attached.

3. Edit that email - add or remove text, and send.

4. Look in Sent Items. The sent email DOES NOT HAVE YOUR EDITS.

This is subtle, and super annoying - how often do you think to check if your e-mail got sent the way you wrote it? I only noticed cause I went back to copy some text that I had written for a new e-mail and saw that it was missing! THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR ME AND MY CLIENTS.

I wish you didn't have to go through all these hurdles with invoice templates, @bitboyenterprises. Rest assured I'm here to help address your concern and point you in the right direction of support to sort this out.

To begin with, we can utilize the Verify and Rebuild Data tool. This way, we'll be able to identify and resolve the most commonly known data issues within your company file.

Before proceeding, let’s ensure we always have our QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release to keep your software up-to-date so you always have the latest features and fixes. Then, create a backup company file to secure your data if you ever run into problems.

Follow these steps on how to verify data:

  1. Choose Window, then Close All.
  2. Go to the File menu, and then click Utilities.
  3. Select Rebuild Data.
  4. Follow the onscreen instruction to back up your data.
  5. When the tool finishes, select OK.
  6. Navigate to the File menu, then click Utilities.
  7. Click Verify Data, then select Rebuild Now once QuickBooks finds an issue with your company file.

If the same thing happens after trying those steps, I'd recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team. This way, they'll be able to check your account in a safe environment and do an investigation regarding this query. Please check our available hours to ensure that we address your concern promptly.

Let me know if you need more help or still having issues with emailing invoices in QuickBooks Desktop. The Community is always open to back you up. Stay safe always!

This has nothing to do with QBO, and it's possibly an Outlook bug. Thanks for taking an interest, but this is not helpful - none of this is happening in a browser.

Note for Google and other searchers. This is an Outlook issue. There is a registry key you can get from Microsoft to temporarily fix the problem. See thread at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/when-sending-emails-from-quickbooks-with-o... for more info.
