Business Name Change

Hi,

 

I need to change the name of my business on my Intuit account.  I followed directions and downloaded and filled out the Business Name Change template, scanned a copy of my driver's license and a picture of my Intuit account showing my QB Desktop Pro Plus 2024 subscription, as proof of having an active account.

 

The next step tells me I need a PIN number? I am not understanding that.  Isn't there a way to just submit my information and make the name change with Intuit?

  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop, and click Continue.
  3. At the bottom, click Contact Us and type in your concern.
  4. Click Continue and select a way to connect with us from the options. You can either connect with us via Chat or get a Callback.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to proceed.

Business Name Change

Patti2021, you followed the correct procedure to change your business name.

 

The PIN mentioned in the process is specifically for Direct Deposit. If you're not using Direct Deposit to pay your employees, you do not need the PIN.

 

Otherwise, this is necessary to successfully update your data on our servers. These additional steps will help prevent any syncing issues between your company's payroll data and the QuickBooks servers.

 

  1. After updating your legal business name, go to the Employees menu.
  2. Select Send Payroll Data.
  3. Make sure that there is no pending payroll transactions to send and enter the Direct Deposit PIN.
  4. Click Send.

Please ensure your QuickBooks and payroll releases are up-to-date. From there, you should be able to run payroll and process forms smoothly.

Business Name Change

Hey JamesDuanT,

 

Thanks for the info.  I do not run payroll for employees so there is no issue there, and I have changed my business name with  the state and the IRS so all good on that front.

 

Good to know I don't need the PIN.  However, how do I get my name change form and supporting documents to Intuit so my account with QB shows the correct name/  When I log into my account, (and my merchant services account), it shows my old business name. I need to know how to get my documents to Intuit so they will change my business name.

To successfully upload your documents for your business name change, PattiB, you'll need to submit them through our system.

 

It is essential to have your Personal Identification Number (PIN), which is required by Intuit Customer File Exchange. Please know that this PIN is different to Direct Deposit. You'll need to contact our Live Support Team as they can help you generate this PIN and guide you in uploading the documents.

 

Then, the PIN can be found in the email we sent you, and it expires after 48 hours. If you have not received your PIN, please check your spam folders for an email from us. If it’s not in your spam folder, do not hesitate to contact our Live Support Team for further assistance.

Hi HollyNino,

 

I have already confirmed that I do not need a PIN as I do not run payroll through QuickBooks and there is no direct deposit.  All I need is a link to upload documents to Intuit so they can change the name of my business.
