I'd like to share some information, Janfromearth1.
At this time, the date warning option for the future transaction is only available in QuickBooks Desktop. In QuickBooks Online, you can lock past transactions by closing the books. This is to prevent any changes made to transactions dated earlier than the closing date.
To add a closing date and password, you can follow these steps:

Wow.... Thanks @RenjolynC that's good to know. Regretfully, once again a basic function that should have been in v01 of QBO was left out.
@Janfromearth1 regretfully it sounds like there's no solution for your question about future entries. And I'd like to hope that adding the notice is high on the list of the QBO development team, but it has been years.... So but sure to go into Help and Feedback and voice your request for this basic feature to be added in the next update.
All of you QBO users really are the Beta testers, so you need to voice your opinion if you want something changed, added or improved.
The QB POS system displays an error message, "Document date is earlier than QuickBooks closing date preference," when updating QB Desktop. Despite changing the closing date and voucher date, the POS continues to show the same error. What steps should I take next? I have attached a snapshot with this reply for a more detailed overview.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could reply me via Whats or email.

I appreciate you sharing your concern about the error message displayed by the QB POS system, Meharattaullah8. I want to provide some helpful insights about using QuickBooks Point of Sale.
As of October 3, 2023, QuickBooks Desktop POS has officially been discontinued. This indicates that there will be no additional updates to provide security patches that could fix the error message you've experienced. The company has also stopped offering Payments and Connected Services, which includes Financial Exchange.

However, there are third-party applications that offer services to establish connectivity and data flow between the two programs. QuickBooks has also partnered with the e-commerce platform Shopify to offer a point-of-sale solution.
