Join nowHi! I am trying to get a job in the data field (administrative/bookkeeping position).
Should I be taking the ProAdvisor or Certified User exam?
Also, could you use ProAdvisor's online training courses to study for the Certified User exam or is this not recommended? I am someone who benefits from a structured course and noticed that is not an option for the Certified User Certification.
Thank you so much,
June
Hello there, @MonthofJune.
You can take the ProAdvisor certification since the job your getting is more in the data field. This way, your skill will grow, and as your certifications. It will also boost your profile on the Find-A-ProAdvisor directory in case you signed up.
Yes, you can use the Proadvisors courses to study the Certified examination or vice versa. This way, it broadens your expertise in handling any scenarios with your company file.
However, I'd still suggest completing the Certified User examination first so it will be easier for you to pass the ProAdvisor certification.
Also, each section of the exam requires an 80% score to pass and you can make up to three attempts to pass the whole exam. If you do not pass in the first three attempts, you are locked out for 60 days. When the 60 days are up, you can take the certification exam again.

Thank you so very much for the clarification on this and for the extra resources, Joesem! Would you recommend any other study materials for the Certified User exam other than the Online Study Guide through Certiport? I'm excited to get on my way toward certification and starting my new career path.
