cannot send email with QB 2017Desktop Pro

I have QB 2017 on my laptop with Windows 10.  I am trying to set up to send my invoices by email.  I have tried multiple times to put in my password and it says, " incorrect password".  I have double and quadruple checked my password, and it still does not let me through.  I have made sure Java was installed.  Still nothing.  I don't use this laptop very much but was wanting to verify that I could send email from it since my 2009 on my desktop, windows Vista Home Premium does not work.  Can anyone help me?

Let me help get rid of the error message when trying to send an invoice via email.

 

We can do some troubleshooting to isolate this behavior. Let's begin with updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Update to the Latest Release page.
  2. Make sure your product is selected. If not, click the Change link and select your QuickBooks product.
  3. Click the Update button to download the update file.
  4. Click Setup Automatic Updates to learn how to set QuickBooks to automatically download and install the latest updates.

Otherwise, you can check the settings in the webmail preferences. I've provided the steps below on how to do this with ease:

  1. Go to the Edit menu, then click Preferences.
  2. On the left pane, choose Send Forms.
  3. Under My Preferences, select the email account you are using and click Edit.
  4. In the Edit Email Info screen go to the SMTP Server Details section and set the server name and port to your email provider settings.

cannot send email with QB 2017Desktop Pro

I get the message, " Your email cannot be sent because Quickbooks does not support the email program you are using. The supported programs are Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail and Mozilla Thunderbird."

I have Windows Mail.  Now what ?

Sorry to bother you on Sunday, Mother's Day.  I won't expect a reply til tomorrow maybe.  I had to send it while I'm thinking about it and have time.

I can help you get rid of this error, @sparkync.

 

Let's first run the verify and rebuild utility tool. This is to isolate the error for possible data damage.

     1. Rebuild your data

          a. Go to the File menu.

          b. Select Utilities.

          c. Choose Rebuild Data.

          d. Click on OK.

          e. Follow the prompts to save a backup.

          f. Select OK when you see Rebuild has completed.

     2. Verify your data

         a. Go to the File menu.

         b. Select Utilities.

         c. Choose Verify Data.

         d. Select OK if there are no problems detected.

         e. If Verify finds an issue with your data, you will be prompted to Rebuild Now or View Errors.

        f. Click Rebuild Now.

 

Once completed, let's restart your computer to make sure that all components are updated. You can refer to this article for more detailed instructions: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.  

 

On the other hand, here's how you can set up webmail in QuickBooks:

  1. Go to the Edit menu.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. Select Send Forms on the left side.
  4. Click the My Preferences tab.
  5. Mark the WebMail radio button.
  6. Hit the Add button below to enter your email.
  7. Click the drop-down arrow to choose an email provider.
  8. Hit OK.
