If you haven't enabled the multi currency feature, your QBD program will use the same currency as your Windows settings as default.
I don’t want multi currency, just US$. I’ve been using this software for years, never had a problem until I updated then I saw the XDR in place of $. How do I change it back please?
Check your Windows setting to make sure.
All are set to USA
I can share some insights on how multicurrency works in QuickBooks, kcamkius.
Once the Multicurrency feature is on, you can no longer turn off and change the home currency. I'm adding this article to learn more about multicurrency in QuickBooks Desktop: Set up and use Multicurrency.

Thanks for your insights but they bare absolutely no relevance to my problem. If you would kindly read my question, you'll understand. I have never activated multiple currencies. Up until a recent update, the $ sign was present on my invoices. Now, it shows XDR, I have no idea what XDR means, there are no references to XDR within QB, and, there is no help available for my problem within QB, whatsoever!

Win settings are correctly showing the $ sign??
Next troubleshoot, install the trial license for QBD 2021 or 2022 to compare.

Have you installed the trial license as I mentioned earlier?
Not yet, how do I uninstall if it doesn’t work?

With QBD 2022, invoice prints out with $ sign. Where do I go from here?
I’ve installed QBD 2022. It prints $ sign on invoice. What’s my next step please?
It is very possible that your QBD 2015 program is corrupted and you should try to reinstall it. If the same error persists, you should install the trial version for QBD 2021 Pro for the next step. You may consider to purchase the one time license for QBD 2021 Pro or Premier or the subscription license for QBD 2022 Pro Plus or Premier Plus later to upgrade your version.
