Changes to mileage tracking in QB online web?

So, before I start, yes, I know I can track my mileage through the app; however, I don't want the app tracking my every move and logging each and every place I go - whether personal or business.

I enter my mileage manually online. I noticed tonight when I went to enter mileage, options to duplicate trips or mark a trip as roundtrip are missing. Meaning, I have to enter each and every trip twice (once to the destination and once from the destination). Is this a ploy to annoy people enough to turn on in-app tracking so that Intuit can have more data?

Changes to mileage tracking in QB online web?

I've come to help you utilize the duplicate trips or mark a trip as a round trip option again when manually adding your mileage data in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @nm520.

For the time being, the Create Round Trip option is available on the lower-left corner of the Add trip window when you add trips manually (Please see the attached screenshot below).

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to help isolate this matter. First, you can manually zoom in and zoom out the display screen to either increase or decrease. This is to check whether the option is just hidden on the page. To increase it, you can hold the Ctrl key and press the Plus sign (+) on your keyboard simultaneously. To decrease it, go back to your keyboard and press Ctrl and the Minus sign (-)

After that, you can pull up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser (incognito). There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed pages, thus causing some unusual responses to the system. Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once signed in, go to the Mileage menu and select the Add trip button. If you're able to view and choose the Create Round Trip option, return to your default browser and clear its cache. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performances issue. However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.

In the meantime, I'm adding this article to further guide you in managing your business-related mileage using QBO: Mileage tracking and vehicles in QuickBooks Online. It includes topics about user permissions, setting location, and adding vehicles, to name a few.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below. If you have other mileage concerns or inquiries about managing your trips in QBO, I'm just around to help. Take care always.
