Chart of accounts

When I go to enter an account number from my chart of accounts, it shows +add new and the account number that I typed in?  I used to be able to put in my account number and tab over to the debit column.  Pain in the butt and slowing me down!

Chart of accounts

We understand the challenges you're having, @SHISHI.

I'm here to help you keep your accounts organized and easy to find by assigning numbers.

Let's make sure that the account numbers feature is on. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Settings and select Account and settings.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. Select Edit in the Chart of accounts section.
  4. Turn on Enable account numbers. If you want account numbers to show on reports and transactions, select Show account numbers.
  5. Select Save and then Done.

You can learn more about that here: Use account numbers in your chart of accounts.

In addition to that, I've added some articles that include ways to keep your Chart of Accounts organized:

I'm just around in the Community if you have more questions about managing your Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks. I'll make sure you're able to achieve your goals. Take care and stay safe.
