Buy now & saveA recent update has made it so that class fields are no longer included on our invoices. They show as hidden when drafting the invoice but cannot be unhidden when printing/sending the invoice. Has anyone found a workaround to this? Our consultants names show up in the class field and our clients require this information.
Thank you for contacting us about the updated class fields in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'm here to provide you with detailed information to ensure your query is addressed effectively to your satisfaction.
If you're referring to the class column that appears when you create an invoice and would like it to remain hidden when printing, you can easily adjust the settings to turn it off. For more details about the process, I've added this resource: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online. Please take a moment to review here.
On the other hand, if you're referring to the Class field hidden in the invoices, it should remain unseen when you print and send them to your clients.

It's actually the opposite--I need the class field to appear when printing but it does not appear as of the most recent QBO update. We want the class field to show on our invoices. Thanks.
Directly printing an invoice with the class field is currently unavailable, Sarah. However, I have the perfect workaround to help us achieve this.
Firstly, please note that the Class field is an internal reporting tag, and thus, we can't print an invoice with it directly.
As a workaround, you can create another column for your invoice using the Custom Field feature in QuickBooks Online Advanced. If you are not using QuickBooks Online Advanced, you may want to consider upgrading to access this feature.
Here's how:

It is almost unbelievable that QuickBooks Online is so lame. Meanwhile, using QuickBooks Desktop you can add many fields and and columns to the invoice table and print any of them that you want. And it's been this way for at least 25 years.

There are 49 more fields you can add using the layout designer. Here the first 7 are shown:
