I do not use the "Class" feature in QB. How do I remove it, every time I enter a invoice, payroll or check QB will ask if I'm sure I want to enter without a "Class". I answer yes, enter. How can I stop QB from asking if I want to enter without a class? I would like to remove this option.

Thank you

Thank you for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community, onewaystl. I will be happy to show you how to disable the Class feature in QuickBooks Desktop and get you back to business! Here's how:

  1. Go to the Edit tab and select Preferences (This is usually the last option in the list).
  2. Once that screen opens, click the first option (Accounting).
  3. Next to My Preference, select Company Preferences. If you can not make changes, you would need to be logged in as the Admin.
  4. Under Class, uncheck the box Use class tracking for transactions.
  5. Select OK once you are completed and return to your transactions to verify the adjustments.

In the event, you may need to turn this feature on again, here is a handy article to guide you. Please let me know if you need any assistance with Class features within your program. Simply comment or mention my name below. I hope you enjoy the rest of your evening.

Do you happen to know how to turn this feature off for the online version?  When I use the time feature with the kiosk I am not able to clock out as the class selection is showing as a requirement even though it is not included in the package my client has.

Thank you in advance for any advice you may have!

Thanks for joining on this thread, @TRAdmin.

I'm here to ensure you're able to turn off the class tracking feature in QuickBooks Online.

You can turn off the class feature in your account by going to the Account and Settings. I'm happy to show you the steps on how to accomplish this.

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then choose Account and Settings
  2. Choose the Advanced button.
  3. Click the radio button beside Track classes in the Categories row.
  4. Tap Save, then Done.

Moving forward the any assigned class will not showing up anymore in your account. In case you need it soon, you can refer to this article on how to turn it on and manage it: Get started with class tracking in QuickBooks Online.

I'd also encourage you to visit these articles about managing kiosks and the QBO common questions.

Feel free to let me know if you have further questions about class tracking or QuickBooks related. I'm continuously here, willing to help you. Take care.

Good Day Everyone,  I am trying to turn off class from my quickbooks but the tab Categories unde Advanced doesn't exit in my Quickbooks online. Any idea?
The main goal is disable the required field Classes from clock in/out in Quickbooks Time Tracking (picture attached).

Thank you, Abed

Welcome to the Community, @Abed Moati. I'm here to help you turn off the Class field in your QuickBooks account.

Before we begin, could you let me know what specific version of QuickBooks Online (QBO) you're using? One reason you're unable to see the Categories section under the Advanced menu is if you're using Simple Start or Essentials. This feature is only available for QBO Plus and Advanced.

If this is not the case, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. Let's start with opening your account via an incognito browser to have a clean slate. This is a private mode that doesn't store cache which sometimes gets corrupted resulting in odd behaviors when accessing websites like QBO. Below are the shortcut keys you can use:

  • Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+N
  • Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+P
  • Safari: Command+Shift+N

Once signed in, go to the Accounts and Settings page again and check if you can now see the Categories tab. If this works, I recommend clearing your browser's cache to eliminate piled up and damaged cache. If the same thing happens, you can also use a different supported browser or device.

On the other hand, you can simply turn off the Class field in the Preferences menu of your QuickBooks Time account so won't see it whenever clocking in or out of the program. Here's how:

  1. Launch your QuickBooks Time account.
  2. Once opened, select the QuickBooks menu and choose Preferences.
  3. Then, uncheck the Class box under the Timesheets Should Show section.
  4. After that, close the window and go to the Time Clock menu to check if you can still see the Class option.

I've also noticed that the screenshot you're trying to paste wasn't uploaded successfully. You might want to edit your post and select the Photo icon to attach the desired image you want to add.

Running reports to track your QuickBooks Time data is a breeze. To do so, feel free to browse this article that includes the instructions in opening one: QuickBooks Time reports.

Please keep me posted on how this goes. I'm always here ready to provide further assistance to ensure your goals are achieved. Have a good day ahead and take care.

How do I categorize transactions into classes when my class (Hidden) doesn't work?

I can help you add classes to your invoices. Thank you for providing the screenshot, it helps us understand your concern better.

To start with, are you referring to adding classes to your invoices? If so, please note that this option is available however, it's hidden and will not appear on the customer's end when received.

You can continue adding classes under the Class (hidden) column. It'll be added to your transactions and reports.

Refer to this article for more information about updating and personalizing your invoices and other sales forms to add all the information that you need: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, here's an article that guides you with recording payments and marking invoices as paid, whether the payment is for the full or partial amount: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online

Let me know if you need more help with adding classes to your invoices or anything else. I'm always here to answer them for you. Have a great rest of the day!
