I am running Enterprise 24.0. Windows had an update on Jan 29, 25 on Jan 30th all my company files are missing. And I can't restore from backup. When trying I get an error that I need to download the newest version of File Repair Doctor and then it can't find that file.
I have downloaded the newest Tool Hub but that is not helping either. I have uninstalled the Windows update and still no luck.
@MC-TMI When you say that your company files are missing, do you mean that the previous company list is empty? Or, are the files actually no longer located at their normal location? Something else entirely?
Hi, My companies show in the list but the last modified is blank when I was in them on Jan 29th. When I went to the file location all the company files were missing. I have the backups but they will not restore.
Thank you for raising your concern to us, @MC-TMI.

@MC-TMI Yeah, that's pretty weird.
The only thing I can suggest is to see if you have any recent Restore points for your computer itself, rather than QB.
If it's not too far back, it would probably not be too awful to catch up a few days of bookkeeping, and it would restore your computer to how it was on that specific day.
Otherwise, may want to hit up your local tech squad.
Can you open the sample file without any issue?
Good Morning Chrea,
I just tried to open all 3 of the sample files and received the same error that the file cannot be opened.
Error: -6000, -83 Sorry QB can't open your company file.
You should consider reinstalling 2024 or installing 2023 to isolate the problem.
Hi Chrea,
That was one of my next options. I have been swamped with month end & year end deadlines along with preparing for tax drop off.
Thanks
Hi Chrea,
So I have reinstalled/repaired my program file and still can't open the sample files or restore from my files.
I will try to delete the program completely & reinstall next
Consider to install QB Desktop 2023 to compare.
Hi Chrea,
I can't download QB 23 and get into it as I don't have license info for it.
I did download the QB 24 trial but that still doesn't work.
I tried to chat with support yesterday but couldn't connect to anyone.
I'm starting to think there's something wrong with your Windows OS. You can install the trial version of QB Desktop 2023 Enterprise to make sure.
Hi, haven't been able to find a place to download QB Enterprise 23.
I am in the process of downloading to a stand alone laptop & see if I can open files on there.
You can contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA and ask them to share the installer file.
