Ever since I upgraded to Desktop Pro 2021 last year I have experienced an ongoing, sporadic issue. I upgraded from 2015 and have been using QB for over 20 years and have never experienced this issue. When writing checks, the amount will deduct from the register, but will not update on the chart of accounts. Sometimes when I write a check out of one checking account, it will update the balance in another. Also, when I allocate to a sub-account it will only update the primary account and the sub-account balance will not update. This started this year and it happens to all 10 company files that I do the books for. It is getting frustrating to constantly have to rebuild the files. I used to be able to trust the Quickbooks data, but now I find myself having to double and triple check to make sure when I do a transaction everything updates correctly. How can this problem be permanently fixed? I can't keep rebuilding company files every few days.

I commend you for performing some troubleshooting steps in fixing this issue, @jlccleo.
I'll make sure you'll be able to access your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) seamlessly. I'd recommend updating your QBDT to the latest release to ensure you'll have the latest features and fixes.
If the issue remains, I propose downloading the QuickBooks Tool Hub and run the Quick Fix my Program to fix this. This tool scans your QBDT for errors and resolves them right away. I'd be glad to guide you how.

All of your files should be fine running on QBD 2021 Pro. Create a backup file for one of those files and restore it with a new name. Did you encounter the same issue with the restored file?
Your suggestion is what I do every time it happens. It works until the issue arises again in a few months. The next time it happens I will try all of the above fixes again and hopefully it will be permanent.
Thanks for your time and suggestions.
