We are a construction company and are very frustrated with QuickBooks online. We use a QuickBooks pro version and most of what we use is not available in the online version. We also lost all of our reports which we have been customizing for 20 years and lost all of our memorized bills. We are switching back to QuickBooks desktop we had a bookkeeper already attempt this. It did not go well, lots of missing or broken data, items coming over as expenses, etc.. We have only been online for 3 months and are hoping to import that data back to our old QuickBooks company file (this is important so we keep all our reports and memorized bills. Is there a way to do this or someone that we can call to help? Thanks
Hello, @SLM1021. I completely understand the significance of transitioning from QuickBooks Online back to QuickBooks Desktop, especially when retaining all your critical data. I can provide you with valuable insights into the process of converting your data back to QuickBooks Desktop.
When transitioning your company's data from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop, it's essential to recognize that this process may involve several changes and limitations. Consider to keep your old QB Desktop file to access your historical data and only convert the current fiscal year from QBO to a new QB Desktop file. You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for assistance. Then you may also consider to merge both QB Desktop files if required.
RE: We are a construction company and are very frustrated with QuickBooks online.
Yes, that's normal.
RE: We use a QuickBooks pro version and most of what we use is not available in the online version.
Yes, that's normal. QB Online is bereft of many of the feature of Desktop. It is a very poor downgrade from Desktop.
RE: We also lost all of our reports which we have been customizing for 20 years and lost all of our memorized bills.
Yes, that's normal too. Why would anyone want those to convert?
RE: We are switching back to QuickBooks desktop we had a bookkeeper already attempt this.
Very smart choice, but as you noticed, like many of the other features of Online, the conversion to Desktop is lacking.
RE: We have only been online for 3 months and are hoping to import that data back to our old QuickBooks company file (this is important so we keep all our reports and memorized bills. Is there a way to do this or someone that we can call to help?
No, QuickBooks Online won't do that. In your case, probably the best thing to do is to re-enter three months of data into your old, better, QuickBooks desktop file. Or, at least, the important data you need there.
