CORP Bank of America

Hi,

I need help with Corp Bank of America because when I link the account, I first link the account with the credit card number, and I catch that it only gives me the expenses; then I connect the other account that does not have a number but shows all payments or credits. After categorizing both, I want to do the reconciliation, and I cannot do it.  I read some posts, and they suggest making one account parent and the other sub-account. I did, but QBO sent an error that said, "You can't change the parent of this account to Credit Card Bank Of America because it or its parent is already set up for Online Banking or Web Connect."

I would like to know if I have a solution to this problem because I cannot reconcile the Corp Bank of America.

Thanks

CORP Bank of America

Hello there, @Lil2022

Let's ensure your Corp Bank of America account is linked to QuickBooks.

In your case, we need to figure out how your bank transmits the downloaded transaction before we connect our credit card account. If the transactions are downloaded to one account, we simply need to connect the parent account. We'll need to link them both if it downloads to both parent and subaccounts.

Since all the transactions (payments and credits) are showing in the other account that does not have a number, I'd suggest you disconnect all the subaccounts before reconnecting only the parent account so you can start reconciling the parent account alone. Refer to this link in disconnecting the subaccounts: Disconnect or delete an account from the Downloaded Transactions page.

After that, create subaccounts in your chart of accounts to break down your bank transactions into greater detail.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear ⚙ icon, then choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click New, then select the account type and detail type.
  3. Click the Is sub-account option and then enter the parent account.
  4. Enter the necessary information.
  5. Hit Save and Close.

We can also turn an existing account into a subaccount (If you have any).

Then, connect the parent account by following this guide: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have further questions about managing your credit card accounts. I'll get back to you as quickly as I can.
