Corrupt file

Hello cbrar,

You can run some steps to identify what causes the system to shut down.

Let me guide you how:

  1. Click the File menu.
  2. Under Utilities, select Verify Data.

If you see an error message, there may already be an article for it. Try searching for it in our QuickBooks Desktop support site for specific instructions. If you are prompted with Your data has lost integrity, you'll have to rebuild the file.

You can do that by selecting Rebuild Data from Utilities under the File menu.

Also, if you want to process payments online, you can check this reference: Receive and process payments in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know how these steps work on your end. I'll be around to help you out!
