Custom Invoice Template

Hi Folks,

I recently upgraded my computer, which implies a migration and I also upgraded from Desktop Quickbooks 2011 to Desktop Quickbooks 2020. I had a custom template for my invoices and I'd like to continue to use it. Where were custom templates kept in 2011?

Thanks for the help,

Chris.

Custom Invoice Template

Hi Folks,

I have found the templates in "Lists".  The missing template is in the company data file, but is not reflected in the on-screen appearance, even though the printed representation seems to be correct. How do I restore the correct behavior of showing the custom template on the screen as I enter the invoices?

Thanks for the help,

Chris.

Custom Invoice Template

Thanks for letting me know that you've found your custom templates from the Lists menu in the 2020 version, Chris.

It could be the sections of the custom template aren't selected in the Screen column. This might be the reason you're only seeing them on the printed form.

To help fix this, let's go to the Additional Customization window so you can get the fields to appear on the Invoice screen. Let me guide you how.

  1. Go to Lists from the top menu.
  2. Select Templates
  3. Find your invoice template and double-click it to open the Basic Customization window.
  4. Click Additional Customization
  5. In the Screen column, select the sections that you want to appear on your Invoice screen.
  6. You can also click the When should I check Screen or Print? link to learn more about the differences of these two columns.
  7. Click OK

The screenshot below shows you the last three steps.

You can always visit this website: Customize Form Templates. This article provides you steps on how to duplicate, export, or import your custom templates. It also includes a link on how to troubleshoot common issues when using and customizing templates at the bottom of the page.

I'll be right here to help if you need further assistance. Have a great day, Chris.

Take care always,

Raymond
