Customizing Printed PO to show top level (customer) instead of Job

Purchase Orders:

On screen, the PO shows both customer and job; however, printed copy only shows job. What field do I add to my custom PO, and how do I add it, to have both Customer and Job print on the PO?

Customizing Printed PO to show top level (customer) instead of Job

Let's make sure to fix this so you customizations appears when printing the form, SBrown001.

The verify and rebuild tool helps find and fixes the most common data issues in QuickBooks Desktop. You can follow the steps below:

To verify your company file data.

  1. Select File, then select Utilities.
  2. Select Verify Data, then select OK to close all windows. If you see “Your data has failed the integrity check” you need to rebuild your file. If there are no problems with your data, you’re done.

To rebuild.

  1. Select File, then select Utilities.
  2. Select Rebuild Data, then select OK to close all windows.
  3. QuickBooks will ask to make a backup before rebuilding your company file, select OK. If you don’t want to do a backup, select Cancel to continue rebuilding your company file.
    1. If you haven’t set up any backup preferences, QuickBooks will ask you to update them. Select Backup Preferences and edit as needed, then select OK.
    2. When the backup's finished, select Show in Finder to locate the backup or select OK if you’re done.
  4. Once the rebuild is finished, select OK.

Once done, double-check if it's already printing the correct information. If you're still getting the same, I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can investigate further. They have the tools to pull up securely your account. In the meantime, you can try editing the customer/job name so it will show the correct information.

Additionally, you may also encounter errors in QuickBooks. This usually happens due to the random nature of errors. I've added this article so you'll know what steps to perform: Unrecoverable Error: General Troubleshooting Steps

Let me know if you have any concerns about customizing the purchase orders. I'll always make sure to further assist you.

Customizing Printed PO to show top level (customer) instead of Job

These steps did not resolve my problem, and I've been asked to check and see if a solution has been found. (NOTE: adding the customer name to the job level is not only redundant, but impractical with 400+ customers.

Customizing Printed PO to show top level (customer) instead of Job

Glad to have you again, @SBrown001. I commend you for trying the steps provided by my colleague.

Now that we know it isn't due to common data issues, let's see if we overlooked any features that could have caused this problem. You may want to customize your Templates to view the details of your Purchase Order form.

From there, we can ensure that the next time you print the form, you'll have both Customer and Job printed on the PO.

To customize a template, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Lists menu and select Templates.
  2. Double-click the name of the form if you'd like to edit, or click the Templates drop-down and select New to create a new one.
  3. Use the basic customization window to Add your logoChange fonts and colors, or Change company & transaction information.
  4. Select Additional Customization.
  5. In the Headers tab, under the Print column, make sure to put a check on the checkbox on the labels (Customer and Job) you want to include when you print the form.
  6. After that, choose Layout Designer to move or resize items on the form.
  7. Once done, select OK.
  8. Select Print Preview to see your form. If everything looks good, select Close.
  9. Click OK.
