Are you using QB Desktop SimpleStart? Your version is too old and outdated and I am not sure QB ToolHub supports it. Open your file and hit ctrl+1 or f2 key. Which QB Desktop year version do you have? You will need a 3rd party service to upgrade your data to recent QB Desktop version or migrate to QB Online. Contact us in private for details.
Let me share additional details about your issue, lauren76.
I agree with Fiat to consider looking for a third-party application to upgrade your data to the latest version. Or, moving your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online. You can visit this website to find an app that can integrate with QuickBooks: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop.
If you want to transfer your desktop data to QuickBooks Online, you can follow the detailed steps provided in this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.
Otherwise, you may contact our support. They can check your account securely and perform more steps to help fix this. See this link for the detailed instructions: Contact Support.
To make sure your issue gets taken care of right away, please check out our support hours: QBDT support hours.
I'm always around to lend a hand if you need more help with managing your data or anything else related to QuickBooks.
Thank you for your reply. Please could you advise what you mean by saying a Third party application to upgrade?
I have downloaded the quickbooks on line trial version, but I am not sure which package it is - do you know which one is the trial please?
If there is a person whom I am able to email it would be greatly appreciated. I tried to look on the contacts help, however I can not find any assistance for the version that I am using - simple smart and I think it is version 2010. Am I able to upload my current quickbook simplestart to the quickbooks trial ?
Thank you
Hello, Lauren.
I'd like to clarify and shed some light on the migration process and how to check for your version.
To clarify Fiat Lux - ASIA and GlinetteC's replies , there are other third-party services that offer a different method for importing your QuickBooks data to the Online version. Though, our agents can also help you with the process.
Regarding the downloaded trial version, are you currently accessing it from the browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, etc..)?
QuickBooks Online has the Simple Start (not the old Desktop version), Essentials, Plus, and the Advanced versions. You can check which Online version you have by going to the settings:
However, did you download it from this page: Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise? You can normally check the version at the top header of the program:
When switching to QuickBooks Online, you would need to have an updated and supported version (QuickBooks version 2020 and above).
Since you have the 2010 version, you can use our File Restoration tool to upload your current QuickBooks data to the trial version.
This article will guide you through the process of using it: QuickBooks Desktop File Restoration Tool.
Aside from the third-party service offer, our agents can also help you upload your QuickBooks data to the Online version (or if you're having troubles using the File Restoration tool).
You can contact them to assist you in the migration process. Their contact details can be found here: QuickBooks Online Support.
After migrating your data to the Online version, I'm sure you'll have questions on how to use and navigate the program. We have a bunch of video tutorials and guides to help you record your entries, manage your lists and more.
Check these pages for more details:
Do you have more questions with the migration process? Or would you like some assistance in QuickBooks Online after migrating? Let me know and I'll gladly lend a hand again.
