Data Protect Issue

I'm running QB Premier Plus desktop 2022 and have not been able to access Data Protect. I've tried troubleshooting steps to make sure the Windows & Norton firewalls aren't blocking it and all necessary items are in the trusted sites. When I try to access Data Protect, the login screen pops up but just keeps loading then finally disappears. I did access it in the past although now I can't. All updates to the QB software have been installed also.

Data Protect Issue

I understand the importance of accessing Intuit Data Protect (IDP), and I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you've performed, Helming. Let me provide further details about this.

Since you have already installed the latest release of the software and the firewalls aren't blocking it, we can now update the IDP via the OCD folder. Doing so allows the backups to run smoothly.

Here's how:

  1. Open the About IDP window and take note of the IDP version.
  2. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete simultaneously on your keyboard, then click Task Manager. Once done, end the following executable files: Intuit Data Protect.exeIBuengHost.exeQBIDPService.exe.
  3. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks XX.0\Components\DataProtect\OCD. The XX.0 refers to the version of your QBDT.
  4. Right-click on IntuitDataProtect.exe and select Properties.
  5. Compare its version to the one you see in the About IDP window from Step 1. If the IntuitDataProtect.exe is on the newer version, proceed to the next steps. Otherwise, reinstall your QBDT to force IDP to update to the most recent. Then, continue to Step 6.
  6. Double-click the OCD folder to open it and copy all stored contents. Then, go to the IDP folder (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\DataProtect) and paste them.
  7. From the same IDP folder, copy Bueng32.dll and paste it into the Sym32 folder. Similarly, copy Bueng64.dll and paste it into the Sym64 folder.
  8. Start the QBIDPService.exe. To do that, go to Start and search for Services. Open the Services., msc tool and ensure QBIDPService.exe is running. If not, start the exe.
  9. Launch IDP and open the About IDP page. Verify if the version has been updated.

However, if the issue persists, I suggest contacting our support team to investigate this issue. They have the tools to check your company files through screen sharing while ensuring your account info remains secure.

Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue, then click Continue.
  5. Sign in to your Intuit account, select Continue, and then Continue with my account
  6. We'll email you a single-use code. Enter your code and select Continue
  7. Choose chat with us or Have us call you.

Check out their support hours to determine availability.

Additionally, you can visit these guides to learn how to handle your IDP, including checking its Backup Status, viewing the Backup History, and changing the Backup Settings:
