Default setting - NUMBER OF COPIES - print one invoice

I have QB Premiere 2019.
A long time ago (c. QB 2013), I had set the default "number of copies" in the PRINT ONE INVOICE dialog box to "2".
Now I email most of my invoices and only print 1 invoice at a time.  I am tired of changing the default "2 copies" to "1" every time a print an invoice.

I cannot locate the setting to change the default number of copies to print in order to change back to only ONE copy.

I navigate to FILE > PRINTER SETUP and there are no associated settings.

Help me, please.

Default setting - NUMBER OF COPIES - print one invoice

Hello there, @Mark E W.

The option to make the number of copies as default is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop Premier version 2019. Although, you can check your actual printer's settings to make default copies to one.

Please take note that some of the printer's settings don't have this default option such as the Fuji Xerox Laser printer. For now, you'll have to enter one copy every time you print your invoice.

I added an article to know the updates of QuickBooks Desktop versions: Working with QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, and Enterprise. You can scroll down to see the topic, "What's New in QuickBooks Desktop".

I'll be here if you have other concerns or questions for QuickBooks. Stay safe and have a wonderful day ahead.

Default setting - NUMBER OF COPIES - print one invoice

It seems that I had the default number of copies set at 2 when I upgraded QB at some point.
I think I should load an old version and have the default set at one, then upgrade to my current version and import my company into the new instance of QB with the proper settings.

Maybe I will see if I can find the setting in the Windows Registry.

What registry key would have this information?

Hi, @Mark E W.

We need to make sure that your QuickBooks release is updated. After, rename the QuickBooks print file.

If you'll want to load an old version and set the default at one, let's ensure that the old version is compatible with the version of your pc.

I've added this article that can guide you more when encountering some printing issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know if you have other queries. I'm here to guide you through the process. Have a great day.

Default setting - NUMBER OF COPIES - print one invoice

Hello, RTCM.

Thanks for chiming in. I'll work with you to fix the problem when printing copies for the invoices.

Have you tried setting the number of copies to one instead of two when printing invoices? If not, here's how you can set it:

  1. Click the File menu, then choose Print Forms.
  2. Select Invoices
  3. Check the invoices you want to print (ensure you checked the Print later option in the invoice screen before doing this).
  4. Click OK
  5. Set the Number of copies box to your preferred quantity.
  6. Once done, click Print

If it still defaults back to two pages or if you've already set it, let's run the PDF Repair tool from the Tool Hub to fix this. You can follow this article for the steps to download and run it: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

Another thing to do is to rename the Qbprint.qbp file. This contains the preferences for printing your forms.

As what MarsStephanieL pointed out, you might also want to check your printer settings to see if it prints a number of copies. Change the settings to fix this.

You can browse our articles from our QuickBooks Desktop Help topics page if you need assistance. They contain guides, details and important pointers for a certain feature or task.

I'm more than happy to lend a hand again if you have other questions regarding the Desktop platform.
