Join nowIm running quickooks 2017 desktop and am looking to use it off two computers.
I have both computers set up, theyre both running multi user mode, and they both have the company file open.
The issue is they arent synced i guess? i set up separate user profiles on the host computer but i cant access the other profile from the new computer; they both are running as admin.
The transactions and things ive been doing on the host computer dont transfer over to the new computer setup so the checks and things ive written are only showing on the admin register.
im not sure if ive explained myself clearly so thank you for any help anyone has!!
Hoe many user license do you have? Do you have a license for 2 users OR 2 licenses for single user?
How do you connect both computers? Do you have a LAN environment or only internet connection?
oh i feel kind of silly now but im not sure haha. i know its an internet only connection and i have both computer desktops synced onto the same network server.
How would i check what my licensing is for?
The software and system were set up before i took over the job so im kind of learning as i go.
Open your company file on each computer and hit CTRL 1 keys. A "Product Information" window will appear on screen and compare both of them. Are they both using the same exact License Number and Product Number? How many "User Licenses" do you see?
I'll help you find your license information and sync the data between two computers, wmrecycling.
If the Multi-user mode is properly configured, the edited data will appear correctly across both programs. However, some factors may affect or prevent the syncing process. Let's narrow down the issue and fix the problem:
Since recent data isn't syncing, we can use QuickBooks Desktop's repair tool to resolve this. Here's how it's done:
In a multi-user setup, a firewall issue may prevent you from properly syncing the data. You'll want to configure your firewall properly to ensure that all users can access the company file. Check out this article for more details: Set up firewall and security settings for QuickBooks Desktop.
If you want to find your license and product number, you can also open your company file on each of your computers. Then, you can press F2 on your keyboard. The Company tab is another place to look for your QuickBooks license number. I'll show you how.
In addition, you can also make a backup of your company file so that you have a copy in case something goes wrong.
I can also help you with other issues in QuickBooks Desktop. Simply add any details below and I'll see what I can do to assist you.
