Dissolving a company and starting a new one

The company we have now I need to dissolve and start a new company with a new EIN#.  What is the process in QB for doing that?  Am I going to have to pay for another QB online since I have to dissolve this company? What is the process for starting a new company in my QB?

I would recommend to convert your data to a QB Desktop file format and you can use the trial version to access your historical data for good. Then signup for a new blank QBO account for your new company file.

Dissolving a company and starting a new one

Hi there, @cheryl91.

I'd be glad to share some insights about the process of starting a new company in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before dissolving your company, ensure that you have already completed bookkeeping and yearend tasks. Each company file has a separate paid subscription, but you can access all of them with the same sign-in information. This lets you switch between companies quickly, making it easier to manage everything.

To sign up for a new subscription, here's how:

  1. Go to our QuickBooks Online page and then select Plans & Pricing.
  2. Select a QBO product and subscribe.
  3. You can either add a payroll plan or not and then click Checkout.
  4. Enter the same email address, mobile number, and password.
  5. Then click One More Step and then choose Sign in.
  6. Click Yes, that's correct.
  7. Then enter your billing info to Get started.

For your future reference, feel free to visit our Account management page for more insights about managing your Intuit product users.

Feel free to reach us again, if you have further questions about starting a new company in QBO. I'll be here to assist you.
