Does the QB Online work with Mac OS Catalina?

Welcome to the Community space, userhgrasso. I am happy to share information about how QuickBooks Online works with Mac OS Catalina.

Yes, it is. QuickBooks Online works well on Mac OS Catalina. It's a web-based accounting software that can be accessed through web browsers. Make sure your browser is up to date for the best results.

Also, these browsers work with QuickBooks Online on both computers and phones:

  • Google Chrome: version 78 or newer
  • Mozilla Firefox: version 76 or newer. Note: To preview and print forms on Mac OS, you'll also need the Firefox PDF plugin.
  • Microsoft Edge: version 79 or newer
  • Safari: version 12 or newer (Mac only)
  • Opera: version 68 or newer
  • Samsung: version 10 or newer
  • For Apple products, your device will need to be running iOS 11.1 or newer.
  • For Android products, your device will need to be running Nougat 7.1.1 or newer.

For more details, about supported browsers, see this article: System requirements for QuickBooks Online products.

Does the QB Online work with Mac OS Catalina?

Thanks, OK  It's not cooperating   I thought maybe this was the reason.  Do I need to download the App for Mac?  It is logging in enough?

Does the QB Online work with Mac OS Catalina?

Thank you for your reaching out to us, @userhgrasso. We are pleased to confirm that QuickBooks Online (QBO) is fully compatible with Mac OS Catalina, ensuring seamless operation on your system.

If you encounter any performance issues, there's no need to download an additional app for Mac. QBO operates as a web-based service, relying on your computer's processing power, available memory (RAM), and internet connection speed. To optimize performance, please ensure that your system meets the basic requirements outlined in the system requirements for QBO.

To optimize performance, we recommend checking your storage capacity and monitoring CPU usage. You can identify resource-intensive apps or processes by accessing the Activity Monitor via Finder, clicking on Applications, selecting Utilities, and choosing Activity Monitor. For further guidance, refer to the Activity Monitor User Guide for detailed instructions.

In addition, consider utilizing safe mode to troubleshoot any performance issues. Safe mode can help you to determine whether an issue is caused by software that loads as your Mac starts up.

If you're using a Mac with Apple silicon, here's how:

  1. Power off your Mac.
  2. Hold down the power button on your Mac. As you maintain pressure on the power button, your Mac will start up and display startup options. When Options appear, release the power button.
  3. Choose your startup disk. Typically labeled as Macintosh HD unless you have renamed it.
  4. Press and hold the Shift key, then click the “Continue in Safe Mode” button below your startup disk, and log in to your Mac.

However, if you're using an Intel-based Mac you can refer to this article for further instructions and detailed steps: https://support.apple.com/en-us/116946

Does the QB Online work with Mac OS Catalina?

QB Online works fine with my Mac OS Catalina version 10.15.7 computer, however, I would like to use QB Online via the Quickbooks Desktop App for Mac front end because of it's interface and additional features.  We are currently using the QB Desktop App interface on our windows machines but we can not get the downloaded file for the QB Desktop App for Mac to run on our Mac.  The file stalls out and asks us to reopen but that doesn't work.  Is there a compatibility issue with the OS version or could there be some other conflict that is keeping the program from being installed?  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.  Thank you

Does the QB Online work with Mac OS Catalina?

I understand you're having trouble running the downloaded QuickBooks Desktop App file on your device, Mppllc. Let's work together to resolve this matter.

First, to identify the root cause preventing the program's installation, may I know the specific error message you encountered when attempting to run the downloaded QuickBooks Online (QBO) app file?

Additionally, it's possible that the download link you used is outdated.
Here's how you can access the updated link and reinstall the QB app for Mac:

  1. Make sure to quit all QB apps and QuickView from running.
  2. Follow this Download link to download the new QB app for Mac.
  3. Comply with the directions listed on the download page.
  4. After following the page instructions, you will see the message: "An older item named 'QuickBooks' already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the newer version you are moving?"
  5. Hit Replace.

Then, once downloaded, follow the steps below to launch the new app:

  1. Click the Finder icon on the bottom left corner of your Mac.
  2. Select the Applications folder and open QB.
  3. You should see the message: QuickBooks wants to use your confidential information stored in Intuit ID... in your keychain. This means macOS validating the new application.
  4. If you don't want to see the message again, enter your login password and click Always allow.

Additionally, you can refer to this article for further details about the process: Install the QuickBooks Online for Mac app.

However, if the
issue persists, I recommend contacting our Live Support Team. They possess specialized tools to securely open your account, conduct further investigation, and provide a resolution.

Moreover, I'll share this article to guide you in connecting your bank and credit card accounts to QBO: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.
