Donation button on non-profit website

Can we accept donations on our non-profit website without having to send an invoice?  If it's possible, how do we do it?   Thanks!

Hi Sabbey. It's my pleasure to help you with recording donations in QuickBooks Online  (QBO).

There are multiple ways of tracking donations for non-profit organizations in QBO. Aside from invoices, you can either record a bank deposit or a donation receipt. Just ensure to use the correct item or account for your transactions.

To record a donation or sales receipt:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account.
  2. Go to the +New icon.
  3. Click on Sales Receipt.
  4. Fill in the information, then save the transaction.

If needed, you may seek assistance from your accountant. He or she can guide you with picking the right accounts or items and keep your books intact.

Here's a few articles filled with great information about using QBO for charity or non-profit organizations:

Aside from that, you can learn more about handling your non-profit transactions through this blog site: How Nonprofit Organizations Use QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know how else I can help you with tracking your donations in QBO. I'm always here to provide additional assistance. Keep safe!

You need a 3rd party payment processor to do so and use a connector to reconcile data into your QBO account.

Entering the donation into QBO isn't the issue.  We need to know how to accept online donations without having to send an invoice.  Do we need a payment gateway to receive the donation on our website? I'm asking these questions to help our accountant. Thanks!

@sabbey

Yes. QB Payments doesn't offer yet such feature. As I mentioned earlier, you have to use a 3rd party processor.

Does QBO now offer a payment gateway or is a third party processor still needed?

Thanks for checking in with us, dawnc5.

The option to receive the donation thru the payment gateway is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). We can follow the recommended solutions provided by Fiat Lux - ASIA. You'll want to check for a third-party application that can help you with receiving the donation on your website. Check out this link for a list of QuickBooks-compatible apps: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/. We can also do it in QBO by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Apps on the left side menu.
  2. Search for the app in the Find apps to streamline your work field.
  3. Look for an app that supports the Batch feature.

Any questions about integrating the app into your Online account should be directed to the app's third-party provider. Also, to assist you in managing your account and growing your business with QBO, I recommend visiting one of our support websites: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about account management, banking, and expenses, to name a few.
