How do I enter a donation check that was dated 2023, but not deposited until 2024? I need it to be included in the donor's 2023 total.

When entering donation checks in your account, this won't affect the data as to when the transactions were created (the date you recorded the entry) vs. the posting date (the date received by your account). You'll have to ensure to include the previous month's transactions when reconciling your account.
Moreover, you can start reconciling your account to make sure your books stay accurate and balanced: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

The best way is probably to use a sales receipt to record the donation on the donation date, and then include it in the deposit on whatever day you deposit the donation, and then the deposit date doesn't have any impact on your donation records.

If the CPA wants me to close the books for the end of 2023, will doing it this way as normal affect that?
