Buy nowBUG REPORT - QB MAC 2022- Don't know where else to post. Any suggestions as to the correct forum among the myriad of (frustrating) Intuit websites would be appreciated.
When I am entering text into a field where it should auto populate with relevant Payees, Items, Accounts or whatever, the field fully populates with whatever QB matches the first character with.
My work around is to delete all other characters except the 1st then type the 2nd character, and repeat (leave 1st and 2nd...type third etc.) till I get to the account/item needed. Beyond Frustrating as it does not filter the results accordingly until I have typed enough to get the item I want.
Also the dropdown doesn't filter, I can "force" it to sometimes by scrolling down and back up and then the filter is applied. Other times that doesn't work and frequently it just crashes the app.
Oh and it often crashes.... Grrrr
Please can we get a bug fix for this?
I know this hasn't been an easy process for you, @Idratherbetakingphotos. Let me share some troubleshooting steps that'll help your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac run seamlessly and fix your issue with the drop-down menus.
The program crashes when the version becomes incompatible with the current macOS version. That said, please ensure that your QBDT Mac is updated to its latest release. This way, you'll always have the latest features and fixes for several problems.
Then, we can run the verify and rebuild data tools to get this resolved. The verify tool will scan any damaged data of your company file, and then the rebuild tool will attempt to fix all of the damaged data detected. It also allows your QuickBooks software to refresh the data inside the company file.
Here's how to verify your company file data:
If you see “Your data has failed the integrity check” you need to rebuild your file. Otherwise, you’re done.
After you’ve verified your data, rebuild your company file to fix any errors or data damage. Here's how:
If the issue persists, let's proceed to repair your QBDT Mac file. Securing a backup copy of your company file is still needed. You can refer to this article to learn more about repairing QBDT Mac: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
I’m adding a link here for future reference where you can search for related articles whenever you have issues with QuickBooks: Help articles for QBDT Mac.
Feel free to update us on the result after performing the steps by commenting below. I'd like to ensure this is resolved for you. Take care always.
Thank you for providing these details about the issue(s) you've been encountering. Would you please consider also submitting from within QuickBooks by going to QuickBooks menu > QuickBooks Feedback? The development team will directly receive the report, and we'll be able to communicate with you by email to get more steps, screenshots, etc in order to diagnose what may be going on. The more details we can get (a specific Payee name, any Payee leveling, whether you are entering in the register, Downloaded Transactions window) will help with figuring out what is going on.
I've saved the details you gave here and I'll work at testing with some Payees and Items to try and get a reproducible case.
Thanks for trying to help, I did the verify/rebuild data but the problem persists. I am moving the conversation to "QuickBooks Feedback"

I am having the exact same problem. It is making Quickbooks for Mac virtually unusable. I've verified and rebuilt the data file. I'm running QB for Mac 2023.
Try opening the sample file. Did you encounter the same problem?
I appreciate you following this thread, select.

You can perform a clean uninstall and then a clean reinstall of the application to help fix this. Please note to create a backup file before proceeding to prevent any data loss.

Here's how:
Then, remove QuickBooks PLIST files to reset all QuickBooks preferences to the default settings. Here's how:
