"Email Later" won't be checked after importing iif file into QuickBooks Desktop

If I choose to import iif file through "Import it for me. I'll fix it later" link, "Email Later" will be marked as expected in QuickBooks Premier Edition 2020, but this will cause other bigger issues (such as payments cannot be applied properly to invoices imported this way). If the same iif file is imported in the normal way, "Email Later" won't be checked. It seems to be ignored during the normal importing process. Almost all the new imported invoices to our company file need to be checked "Email Later", and for now we have to check that one by one and it's really time-consuming. There must be an easier way to do this, right? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

"Email Later" won't be checked after importing iif file into QuickBooks Desktop

Hi there, Frank2085

I appreciate you reaching out and providing detailed information about your concern.

When importing IIF file in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), we don't recommend the option Import it for me. I'll fix it later. Since this option bypasses data review, and some of the info may not be correct or complete for your books.

To import IIF file successfully in QuickBooks Desktop, let's ensure that your file is correct as this may lead to an error or the data will import incorrectly. Once verified, switch to the single-user mode when doing the importing process.

To switch, here's what you'll need to do:

  1. Go to the File menu at the top.
  2. Choose Switch to Single-user Mode

For guidance in checking the format of your file, download the sample IIF File in this article: IIF Overview: import kit, sample files, and headers.

You can also see below links for reference when importing IIF file:

Keep me posted how things go on your end or if you have follow-up questions. I'm here to answer it for you. Take care.

@Frank2085

Since QBD 2019 is released, there are many unresolved issues with IIF feature. Consider using one of these importer tools as a workaround.
