All I need to do is make certain expenses in a credit card payment or a vendor payment billable to a customer.  Like if I get a $5000 bill from a consultant that is billable towards a customer, there is no field where I can input that particular customer or job.  Quickbooks online is like 3X more expensive than my desktop version which we would use on average for 3 years, so I am paying more for way less functionality and I have to take my right hand off the numerical keypad to move the mouse icon to the next line down instead of clicking an arrow like on the old quickbooks or excel.  I am considering bailing on this crappy online thing.  They just want more money and me to sign up for more apps.

    QuickBooks Online has a billable expenditure monitoring functionality. This will help you track the purchases incurred on behalf of your customer when performing work for them.

     

    Please keep in mind that this is only available in QBO Plus and Advanced. If you're using the Essentials or Simple Start version, you may need to upgrade your plan to a supported one.

     

    Once you're all set up and ready, follow these simple steps to turn on the feature:

     

    1. Click the Gear icon.
    2. Select Account and settings.
    3. Go to the Expenses tab.
    4. Tap Edit from the Bills and expenses section
    5. Turn on the Show Items table on expense and purchase forms, Track expenses and items by customer, Make expenses and items billable options.
    6. Hit Save, then Done.

     

     

     After that, the Billable checkbox and Customer column will appear on your bills, expenses, and check forms.
