Has anything helped others?  We open numerous versions of Quickbooks with the same issue

Side not on this-  Purchased three brand new computers to try and fix the issue.  Upgraded three other computers.  Still same issue on all computers.

Not the problem, all of this has been attempted - including new computers.  We need a fix.

Are you referring to Quickbooks crashing? Because that's not what I'm talking about.

Quickbooks does not crash for us, but it crashes other programs that were previously active (internet browsers, internal inventory system application, office 365 applications, etc.).

This only began to happen and be a problem when we upgraded to the latest version of Quickbooks, so it certainly has something to do with the latest version and not the previous ones released.

Let me provide some insights about crashing programs, @mallen_TF.

Working with Internet browsers, internal inventory system application, office 365 applications, etc. has nothing to do with QuickBooks Desktop unless you're accessing transactions from the program. To help determine the root cause of this matter, I'd suggest reaching out to your IT professional. This way, they can check your PC's settings.

Regarding to the Chrome and Slack that crashes when opening your QBDT file @cbekka, our engineer is currently working on it. That being said, I suggest contacting our suppor team to be added on the list of affected users. From there, you'll receive updates via email when update is available.

Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Proceed to Help, then choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue.
  5. Select Let's talk, and then choose a way to connect.

I'm also adding this link to learn more about our contact options and support availability: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.

We appreciate your patience as we investigate this further. If you have other concerns with opening your QuickBooks program, feel free to leave a comment below.

Yeah thanks for your reply but I am the IT person at the company and you’re wrong.

We have 25 users and in the last couple weeks they have ALL randomly started having issues with Quickbooks causing random programs to crash as soon as they open QB, including Outlook, Excel, Chrome and Slack.

I understand Desk Top is not an internet based system, but it does crash Chrome and multiple people are experiencing this, I wish they would believe it!

Thank you for the condescending reply.

Granted your team's struggle to understand the issue that has been described by so many, I have zero confidence in your ability to solve this issue. You can't sit here and tell me there is no correlation between the two, when (a) this issue only began to happen as soon as we upgraded to Quickbooks 22 with no other system changes and (b) it doesn't crash anything specific, aside from the last program that was active

It's also funny, your team advised a fix that corrected the issue partially (when switching between company files), which seems to give greater indication that the problem exists within Quickbooks' code and not your customer's computers or other software.

As I mentioned previously in this thread, the last active program crashes as soon as I log off from a Quickbooks company file. No other time do I have programs crash, until I use Quickbooks. So you can keep trying to push the issue off onto something else, or you can serve your customers and correct your buggy latest version.

And just to be clear, the lack of professionalism I've witness around this issue has certainly solidified our company's exit from Quickbooks software and my never recommending it to those I associate with. So, good work.

@mallen_TF  RE: It's also funny, your team advised a fix that corrected the issue partially (when switching between company files), which seems to give greater indication that the problem exists within Quickbooks' code and not your customer's computers or other software.

I'm sure you're right.

I'm pretty sure this is the cause of the issue, which started in June right around when the article says

QuickBooks would start using a new internal browser: New built-in browser replaces IE 11 in QuickBooks Desktop on June 10, 2022

The new built-in browser is an open-source utility from a 3rd party, which IMO is a recipe for disaster.

Despite the claim in the article, "It’s reliable and will include critical security updates. Updates will be provided if and when they become available.", the versions of the utility current installed are quite old and have not been updated. And, it seems, not at all reliable.

Features like the Home page and various up-sell marketing windows that appear unannounced use the built-in browser - they're really local web pages.

We know that turning off the Home page in preferences helps with the crashing, and it could be that other crashes users are seeing are caused when they use features that use the build-in browser, or when QuickBooks tries to display marketing windows at seemingly random times.

This frustration with the program not working along with reviewing the Huge price increase with monthly and Per EE fees with Desktop payroll for 2023,  it is quite evident that Intuit wants to phase out the desktop as they can make more money with the online version, The enormous fee increase , for desk top payroll is over $5000 a year increase for my small company, You win Qbooks, time for me to leave Desk top and move to another service

There are so many threads about this issue, and every QB team member is answering differently... few telling NO investigation is going on ... some telling they are working hard to fix it... The bottom line is hundreds of users are experiencing this SAME issue for months but going back and forth we are at stage 1 noting resolved QB wants only $$$ yearly...
