entries not showing in 'search'

Good day, @MHildreth. I'll be helping you show the entries you entered today using the Search icon.

The first thing we'll do is pull up the the Transaction Detail by Account report  to see if the entries you entered today have been saved. Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Type the Transaction Detail by Account in the search field and click it.
  3. Click the Report period and choose Custom dates. Then, enter the date of when the transaction was created. Check out this article to learn how to filter report: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
  4. You can also go to the Filter section to specify the transaction you're looking for.

If the entries don't show, let's go to the Audit Log section to see what happened to them since all account activity will be reflected here. You can read this article for detailed steps: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.

However, if the entries are showing in both sections in QuickBooks and not in the Search icon, let's perform some basic troubleshooting steps. To start, open your account via incognito mode or a private window to avoid storing cache files that cause odd behavior.

Feel free to follow the shortcut keys below:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

After that, search for your entries there. If this works, clear the cache of your regular browser to eliminate piled-up data. If the issue persists, you can use another supported browser or device.

You may want to view your sales transactions status, open, and paid invoices on one page. Feel free to read this article: View sales transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know in the comment section if you have additional concerns about locating entries in QBO. I'll be happy to assist you. Have a good one!

I am having the exact same issue! I am glad to see it isn't just me. It is very frustrating to say the least. We rely heavily on being able to search for certain transactions. I hope they get this resolved soon!
