Error in Reinforce Your Skills 2-2

Has anyone noticed if this is an error in the Reinforce Your Skills activity 2-2?  I can't find anything connected to setting up Hours and Sales in the List of Products and Services.

7. Go back to the Products and Services list and, for the Hours and Services products, change the Income Account field from Sales to Pooch Services.

Let me show you where to update the Income account of the Hours and Sales items, carrggar.

The Hours and Sales items are already on the list during the Reinforce Your Skills 2-2 activity. You can update the Income account by following the steps below.

  1. Go to Settings ⚙, then Product and services from the Lists column.
  2. Find the Hours and Sales item.
  3. Open each item, then choose Pooch Services from the Income Account field.
  4. Click Save and close.

I'm glad to let you know that there are several video tutorials about this process that you can watch via YouTube. Simply enter the keyword "Reinforce Your Skills 2-2" and related posts will show up.

Error in Reinforce Your Skills 2-2

I'm working with the new edition 22-23 Academic Year. Those two items aren't on the list in Reinforce Your Skills 2-2. Where in the exercises did it have us put those two into the list? I can't find that anywhere.

Hi carrggar!

Is Reinforce Your Skills 2-2 a module from our website? I checked on our available resources and couldn't find the said module. I can, however, walk you through creating or editing items or share anything around QuickBooks. Just let me know the specific details do you need.

Error in Reinforce Your Skills 2-2

I am using Quickbooks Online: Comprehensive Academic Year 2022-2023 by Patricia Hartley. 978-1-64061-372. Page 17 Reinforce Your Skills 2-2. 7. Go to the Products and Services List and change the Income Account for the Hours and Sales accounts from Sales to Pooch Services.

Since we haven't put Hours and Sales into the list, I don't know how they'd already be there.

I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us today, @carrggar. I’ll share further information about the items found on the Product & Services list.

The Hours and Sales item are the default product or service for time activities and sales. This means these are items that QBO creates when you set up your company file.

You also have the option of renaming or editing them to something you’ll use. For an instance, you can select the Hours and edit the income account into Pooch Services. To do this, you can follow the steps outlined by my colleague above.

To learn more about setting up product and service items in the program, check out this article: product and service items. This will guide you through adding a new item, editing, and deleting them.

Once done, you can pull up the Transaction detail by account report. Let’s filter it into the specific account, Pooch Services, to review the transactions if needed.

Please refer to this article to see different information on how the four-item types help you categorize the products and services for better tracking: Change product and service item types in QuickBooks Online.

Please leave a comment below if you have any questions. I'm always here to lend a hand and help further. Have a good one.
