Estimate Conversion to Customer/Project

After an estimate is accepted, I want to set up a project for that new client and transfer the estimate to the project.  How can I do that?

Estimate Conversion to Customer/Project

Thank you for reaching out to us, @CLS7.

I'll be glad to help you with your estimates concern.

I would like to ask a few questions if you are using QuickBooks Online Advanced, and are you importing these transactions from your bank or another resource?

Note: You're only able to import transactions if you are using QuickBooks Online advanced.

However, you can add existing invoices and estimates to projects. Please note: The best time to add existing invoices to projects is before they're paid. Adding a paid invoice will disconnect the attached payment and will change the status of the invoice to unpaid. As a reference, while waiting for your answer, I'm including some articles to help you.

You can also check how to get e-signatures for estimates in QuickBooks Online for more information about estimates.

We're always here in the Community to help if you have other questions related to QuickBooks. Stay safe!

Estimate Conversion to Customer/Project

The estimate is in Quickbooks/New Customer.  Once the customer accepts the estimate we want to add a project for that customer and then transfer the estimate without entering the estimate in again.  We do not see how that can be done.

Yes we are on Online Advanced - specifically to use projects.

I would like some training on projects.  I have 2 other project issues.

Thanks

Estimate Conversion to Customer/Project

Let me help you in transferring the estimate to a customer/project, CLS7.

You can simply edit the Customer name on the estimate and change it to the new project you created. This way you don't need to enter an estimate again.

  1. Open the estimate.
  2. Under Customer, choose the new project.
  3. Review the information.
  4. Click Save and close.

We have QuickBooks blogs and articles that you can visit to help you become more familiar with QuickBooks Online Advanced:

If there's anything else that I can help you with managing projects and estimates, please let me know in the comment section down below. Have a nice day.

@CLS7

As another option, consider having a project management app. You don't have to use QBO Advanced to integrate with it.
