Buy nowI'm moving a client from QuickBooks Desktop Pro to QuickBooks Online. Some of the customer contacts have a lot of notes regarding historical issues that we need to retain somehow. I'm searching for a CRM for them, but in the meantime, I need to make sure this data isn't lost. Is there a way to export the notes?
Thank you for your help!
I can see that every business has definite needs, FlatTail. Let me provide input when exporting customer notes from the desktop to the online program.
Currently, it isn't possible to export customer notes from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online. Though we can run a Customer Contact List report, you can download this data to an Excel file and modify the notes from there. Then, utilize this document if your CRM system is supported to import it to QBO.
For now, I'll take note of your feedback to help improve our service and your overall QuickBooks experience. You may also personally send this idea to our program developers to work on its progress to include them in future product enhancements.
Here's how to send feedback:
To be updated with our latest news and updates, including product improvements, I'd suggest visiting the What's New section on your QBDT account or opening this link to view our product update blogs.
On the other hand, you may want to consider looking for a third-party app that will help you migrate and import customer notes to QuickBooks Online (QBO).
In addition to this, I'm sharing these resources that will help you manage data features when moving from desktop to online and learn more about QBO:

Thank you for your response. I actually tried that report, but it appears to have a character limitation, so most of the notes were cut off. Or if there were multiple notes, I only was able to download the more recent one. While I understand that QBO isn't a CRM, this seems like something most companies need.
Which QB Desktop year version do you have?
I'm using QuickBooks Pro 2024.
You can use the trial version of QB Desktop to access your historical data for good.
