Good morning, I have to condense my clients quickbooks desktop file so I can send it to a software company for data migration. I currently cannot do so as it is stating ""An accountants copy exists for your company file. You must either import or cancel your Accountants changes before you can run the condense process."
I don't need the condensed file to be perfectly accurate as it's a test run. Is there a workaround for this that isn't waiting for the accountant?
Which year version of QB Desktop is your client using?
Can you open the file on the same year version on your machine?
Thank you for reaching out to the Community, Erod3189.
When trying to condense a file from your client's QuickBooks Desktop, when you encounter an error message. This error notice indicates that your company file has an accountant's copy that was made. Ensure that you work together with your accountant for the restriction to be lifted.
After that, you can remove the accountant copy restriction by following these steps.
Here's how:
Once you remove the restriction, you can't undo it. Once the restriction is gone, the changes won't be imported into the company file.
I've also added some references that you can check to learn more about the condensing file in QBDT:
You’re always welcome to get back to me if you have other concerns with any QuickBooks Desktop processes. I’d be more than happy to help. Take care and have a good one.
