What a racket!!!!!!

I can't access my company until I am forced to renew and pay for a subscription - $510 !!!  A subscription for what ?!

No way around it - pay to play

SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU INTUIT.

Just slide it in when no one is looking or expecting it.

How disappointing 

I am a bookkeeper with 25 years of using QB - I am so disappointed and will tell EVERYONE I know and work for.

QB Desktop 2022 Pro Plus. Plus = annual subscription.

You can use the trial version for QBD 2022 Enterprise for 30 days if required to only open your data. Then you may consider buying a new license for QBD 2023 Pro Plus for single user at $550 (tax exempt) and get $100 as cashback if it matters. They will release QBD 2024 next month and supposedly the price will be higher.

I recently purchased from a3rd party and it ended up with more hassle and through my own error paid more than I should and still ended up paying for the subscription. I have never thought QB made a very good product and am amazed at the monopoly it has. I am a micro business with one employee so am just disgusted that I am being dragged into this rabbit hole. Fortunately I didn't bite when I got the subscription only sales pitch  several years ago so I got to save some money.

I'm locked out of QB Pro+ 2022 and being forced to pay for the same annual subscrip!!! This is a fraudulent practice. I PAID $550+ just a yr ago and also paying for enhanced payroll!

 

Pathetic customer support! PATHETIC!! I'm sitting here wasting my time with Phillipines/china based cutomer support. They are the WORST!!!  I'm literally asking over and over to be transferred to a supervisor and she won't do it

I think it was pretty clear what was the problem. QB is forcing a subscription to keep data that was not with a subscription. It's really awful customer service.

Why is QB customer service gaslighting everyone here, as though nothing bad is happening. A complete disregard for the real problems it is causing. Unbelievable.

Intuit is basically asking you to decide if all this frustration and non productivity is worth $500/yr. I answered that question by renewing unfortunately. But as soon as I can find a different option that my CPA can live with I am switching.

As I'm aware Intuit will increase the price of new licenses and renewals when they release QBD 2024 next month. Contact me again in Q1 2024 if you're still considering staying with QB Desktop. We may have something to explore to lower your expenses later.

This will be my question in January to the accountant. Though I did survey other programs out there, and most of them are the same price or more than QB, at least annually. Accounting has become very expensive with everything in the cloud and these subscriptions. It holds everyone hostage. The tech world is doing the same with entertainment by cutting off production of physical media and forcing everyone to subscribe to a streamer if they want to watch anything.

I have found a workaround. I turned off updates (the program no longer gets updated anyway, all they do now if send changes trying to force you to subscribe). Now every two weeks I get a pop up asking me to log in. I click the option that I’m not the Admin and it says ok, will ask me again in 2 weeks. That’s it.

I do not use any of the services offered by QBD. I do not want/need the added bells and whistles.  I print invoices and send my mail, do not download banking transactions, balance cb with statements, print my own checks or use bank initiated, do not process cc payments, do not use for payroll-it's basically a glorified check register for me with some reportability.  If I am unable to connect to the internet I cannot use the application.  And don't get me started on the pop ups that CANNOT be disabled/  Yet I am forced to pay the outrageous annual subscription fee.  I never had a problem using the disk version and if I can find my copies I will go back to using them.

My QB kept telling me to update my subscription  5 days 4 days 3 days 2 days blah blah blah.  Well I didn't do it and then couldn't log in so I paid the over $700.00 fee as I need my books.   I am now in my books.  I don't use any of the items on the subscription.  I have been using QB since 2000 so I am not interested in changing to anything else.  I am not trainable at this point in my life. Very irritated.

Yup, it’s happening to everyone! I was on the phone yelling at their “support” team about how they are extorting their customers. I sincerely hope they go bankrupt over this sh!T I used it to make invoices, keep track of customers info and that’s about it. No support, payroll or any other “premium” features they say are offered now. And had all my company info locked down trying to charge me $600. Was told I could move to QB online for a cheaper rate and it would be more secure?? So putting all my personal information on their server is more secure than keeping it on my personal desktop…. I went back old school using excel for invoicing and hand record keeping of all my info. I refuse to be extorted by big tech. 

QB support, you will loose in the end because people are not going to put up with it!

When I upgraded my desktop QB Pro subscription because the product was no longer being supported I didn't know the subscription price would go from $300 per year to $500 per year for basically the same product. My subscription automatically renewed this year and I wanted to cancel it because my client has switched accounting software. When I asked to cancel my subscription  I was told by the QB rep. that QB Pro on my desktop would disable all of my company files and I would not be able to use the product at all. My question is this possible? I can understand no longer having access to upgrades. How can Quickbooks disable a product that is on my computer without internet access?  Is the license somehow designed to expire and eat your company files? What if I didn't update my payment method? If I launch the application how is Quickbooks is able to access my computer? I mean really if that is even possible this is a huge security issue. My client isn't done closing out their year so I'll just have eat the exorbitant subscription increase, but after decades of using Quickbooks, I won't recommend this product to any of my clients and I'll be spreading the word about the security issue with Quickbooks Desktop Pro, Plus and Premiere the QB rep informed me about.

For my purposed, I don't need all the features used in QB. I purchased QB Pro 2018 and now, I can't use it for another business I have. This is a terrible way to do business for QB. If there is another program that works as well and accountants can use, I will purchase.
