Can NOT create another company profile

I understand the inconvenience this has caused you, @ERSKIN. Your concern is valid, and I'm here to explore possible solutions to address this issue.

To isolate what's causing the problem, may I kindly inquire about the specific error you have encountered while creating a company file? I'd like to ask as well if you're creating a new company file from scratch or from an existing one.

For now, let's consider compatibility issues between QBDT Pro 2018 and other programs that may be preventing the software from creating a new one. I suggest updating your OS to its latest version and retry creating a new company file.

In case you run into future company file issues, let me add this article as a reference: Fix company file and network issues with QuickBooks File Doctor

Feel free to keep us updated on the issue you've encountered while creating a new company file. We'll do our best to assist. Take care.

Can you login to your CAMPS as the Primary Contact and find your license code there?

Otherwise, you will need another workaround.

I argued over and over again to customer service -  how is it legal for them to block me from my data if I didn't pay.  The person told me - "Intuit does not have your data" but I argued that they would hold my data hostage until I paid the exorbitant ransom fee, so in a sense they do have my data.  In all the years that I have used Quickbooks, I have never had to call customer support until I had the issue with the "subscription" fee which was printed on the back in small print on the back of the 2021 version.  The language on the front only says "1 year Subscription included" and nothing about having to pay each year. I thought what they meant was that I could agree to the subscription the following year if I chose to. Until the "subscription" issue arose, I then looked on the back and in very small print it says you had to pay for it every year. Very deceiving!!  I had to pay again this year but I am thinking about using my 2018 version and do JE for 2021 or 2022 balances and then enter everything again for 2023 since I can't transfer my files to an older version, unless I can find someone who is able to do that. The company that I take care of the books for, is a small company and does not need all the bells and whistles.

@ljl1957

Are you using QB Desktop 2021 with the subscription license? When is your subscription due?

Sometimes businesses get too big and need to brought down with a class action lawsuit. It is ashamed Intuit pulled what they did. Once another company comes out with competition, many will switch.

As long as you can login to your CAMPS as the Primary Contact and find your license code there, you can create a new company file whenever you need it. If you encounter any error message, click on the camera icon on the menu to insert image here.

Now it is $600+. As soon as I find an alternative, I will switch. Unilaterally changing a practice like this, when all of us signed up for a subscription model, appears to me to be ransomware. When I just chatted about it, I was told that Intuit needs this extra money to make a profit--"just like (my) business." My response, that I could not unilaterally decide to charge customers for services and subscriptions they never anticipated, fell on deaf ears. This needs to be escalated.

Please let the rest of us know when you've found a replacement. I'm so enraged by this company's tactics and unfair business practices I'm about to revert to spreadsheets. This is akin to ransomware.

If we want the "extra features," we can pay for them with an upgrade--and understand the premise of doing so. Otherwise, what Intuit is now doing is akin to ransomware.

Do you have QB Desktop 2023 Pro Plus for single user or else?

Not sure what we are paying for ridiculous !

The phone support team is very helpful I do have to say that. I upgraded to 2022 Premier and I told them you are holding my data hostage ( i back up every other day) I could not get back in until I paid the yearly fee.

You can use the trial version of QB Desktop 2022 to access your historical data for good if required.

I am seriously thinking about contacting an attorney.   This is outrageous.  I can't get to my information and on the chat last week they said I was at quickbooks pro 2023  but I only purchased  quickbooks pro plus 2021 and they wanted $656.00 to allow me to get to my information.  They say my subscription has been cancelled. I don't care about any updates at this point I need to get my information and I feel this has been VERY DECEPTIVE ON INTUITS PART.  I DO NOT  RUN PAYROLL OR INTEGRATE WITH THE BANK FOR ANYTHING.  I use the checking account and accounts receivable.  I DON'T CARE ABOUT UPDATES.  I used quickbooks 2013 before purchasing the 2021 - which I regret ever purchasing.  So they want $656.00 dollars for me to retrieve my information.

There needs to be a class action lawsuit against Intuit Quickbooks

Class action is exactly what I was thinking too.  Sign me up!

I used QB Premier Accountant 2021 version for my regular job.  We paid $1,545 for a 3-user license in 2021.  We do use bank feeds, so we were forced to upgrade before 5/31 to the 2024 version or lose that feature.  2024 cost: $1,863 - and only for 1 year!  Over a 3-year period that works out to be a 360% cost increase - with the added bonus that if I don't keep paying the annual Intuit ransomware they will lock me out of my own data!  I've used QBDT for about 12 years, and none of the 'new features' from year to year have ever been useful to me, so their 'upgrades' are COMPLETELY USELESS to me.

I hope to GOD that there is a class action lawsuit brought against them for monopolistic and unfair business practices.

I use QB Accountant 2023 for my personal CPA work, and I do not plan to EVER upgrade that one before I retire.

I have never considered migrating to a different accounting software until this morning, but I'll be seriously looking into that over the next year before the annual subscription fee is due.  I would be really interested to hear anyone's feedback who might have migrated to Xero, Sage Intacct, Melio, FreshBooks, NetSuite, or any other accounting software.
