Gah. Your tab just crashed. is the error message that I get all too frequently. What causes this to happen in Quickbooks Online and how may this be prevented?

This "Gah. Your tab just crashed." happens more often when I am doing a Journal Entry or attempting to run a Standard Report.  Most days, I get this error 3-20+ times.  I am running Google email, Bill.com, and Expensify while working in Quickbooks Online. What can be done to fix or prevent this?

"Gah"? How weird. While technically a word, it's one no one uses.

Where does Intuit come up with this stuff? I'd guess in the same weird dark hole they get their user interface inspirations from, each time they change QuickBooks Online and make it more impossible to understand and use.

I can imagine the trouble you're experiencing with the error message constantly appearing, Mark.

Have you attempted any troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue? If not, I can help you with troubleshooting your browser and ensure you'll get back to working order.

Crashing tabs is caused by several factors, including browser compatibility and cache problems affecting QuickBooks Online (QBO) performance. Thus, make sure to use the latest version of your browser to prevent this from happening.

After ensuring that your browser is up-to-date and the crashing continues, I suggest accessing your QBO account through your browser's incognito mode to rule out any cache-related issues. You can use these shortcut keys to save time:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

If you're able to create a Journal Entry or run a Standard report using an incognito without errors, return to your regular browsing history and clear its cache. This removes the webpage data that’s causing the error.

If the issue persists, it's best to contact our Phone Support team for further investigation. They can assist you in resolving the issue promptly.
