Help. First check is always too low when printed. 2nd and 3rd checks in a full page print with the correct alignment.

Hello,

I'm having this odd issue when printing paychecks. The first check, regardless of if it's a full page or a single check, always prints too low, while the 2nd and 3rd checks (in a full page of 3, for example) print correctly.

I've tried changing the vertical alignment, but that shifts all three checks, so if I align the first check correctly, the 2nd and 3rd checks are then too high.

Is there any way to change the alignment of just the first check without affecting the other two?

I'm using the desktop version of QuickBooks Pro 2024 on Windows 10.

Thank you!

Hey there, @Noodles1

Welcome to the Community!

Let's try using the QuickBooks PDF & Print repair tool to help resolve this problem. You'll need to ensure that you have the tool installed before using it.

Once you've installed it, please use the steps below:

  1. In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, tap Program Problems.
  2. Select QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. It will take about a minute to run.
  3. Print, email, or save as a PDF from QuickBooks Desktop again.

Feel free to reach back out to let us know if this helped you in the end. I'll be waiting for your response!

Help. First check is always too low when printed. 2nd and 3rd checks in a full page print with the correct alignment.

Hello,

I've given the Quickbooks Tool Hub a try, but it is not fixing the issue. The first check is still too low.

Any other suggestions?

Thank you,

Hello Noodles1,

Thank you for chiming! Yes, another solution would be to use the Alignment Grid to adjust the horizontal/vertical settings and make fine adjustments to the position of printed text on your checks. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Select File from the top menu bar, then choose Printer Setup.
  2. From the Form Name drop-down menu, select Check/Paycheck.
  3. For the check style, choose Voucher.
  4. Click the Align button.
  5. Hit Print Sample, then compare it to your pre-printed checks.
  6. Using the grid on the sample, adjust the horizontal and vertical settings, then click OK.
  7. Click Align again and print another sample.
  8. Compare the sample to your paycheck stock and adjust the alignment again as necessary.
  9. Repeat steps 4 through 8 until you have the alignment perfect.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I'm always here to lend a helping hand. Take care!

Help. First check is always too low when printed. 2nd and 3rd checks in a full page print with the correct alignment.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply, but I am trying to print out a full page of checks. The first check is the only one that is misaligned.

Using the vertical alignment to fix the placement of the first check pulls the bottom two checks out of alignment.

As a fix I print out one check at a time by feeding it into my printer. It is aligned just fine that way, but it is also a huge time killer.

I can see the importance of printing a full page of checks, Noodles1. Allow me to assist you with resolving this concern.

Since you've already performed the QuickBooks Tool hub and the issue persists, you can manually rename the QBPrint.QBP file into QBPrint.qbp.old.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop support so that they can review why this is happening on your end. They can also provide some help to get this fix.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Type your issue in the space provided, then select Continue.
  5. Sign in to your Intuit account.
  6. Select Continue and then Continue with my account. Please know that you need to Create a new account if you don't have one.
  7. We'll email you a single-use code. Enter your code and select Continue. If you have multiple accounts, choose what you want to use and then Continue.
  8. Select to chat with us or Have us call you.
