How can I bypass the error message "We can't save your transaction right now. Your taxes are still being calculated." We don't collect or pay sales tax! ?????

Hello there, altmanpl.

To prevent taxes from being computed, you must disable the sales tax. Any transactions containing sales tax should be deleted.

To do so, here's how:

  1. Go to Reports
  2. Type Sales Tax Liability Report in the Find report by name field.
  3. Choose All Dates from the Report period selection menu. Click Run Report.
  4. In the Taxable Amount column, select the amount to see the transaction report. This will show all transactions that have sales tax.
  5. In the Transaction Type column, select the transaction.
  6. Click More. Then, select Delete.
  7. Select Yes.

For detailed instructions, please see this article: Turn off sales tax in QuickBooks Online.

Nevertheless, even after disabling the sales tax, you continue to receive the error message. I suggest performing some basic troubleshooting, as QuickBooks Online (QBO) occasionally displays odd behavior brought on by cached internet cache files. The following keyboard shortcuts can be used to launch an incognito window or private browser:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + P

If it works, I recommend clearing your cache and cookies to update any website preferences that might be interfering with the program's functionality. If not, you can switch to a different supported browser that is compatible. There could be a brief issue with the QuickBooks version you are now using.

Moreover, you may consider checking this article for future reference: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Keep me posted if you have any other concerns aside from sales tax. I'll be here to assist you.
