I use Quickbooks desktop for Mac. I need to convert my .dmg backup to .qbb because I will be converting to Quickbooks desktop on Windows. When I try to export to windows by File>Export>to Quickbooks for Windows, my Quickbooks program crashes.
Is there an alternative way to convert .dmg to .qbb?
Afaik, the sample file is available on every edition since years ago. You can create a dummy file and try exporting it to QBB file format to isolate the issue. On which QB Desktop Windows year version do you need to open the converted file? You can utilize the trial version for QBD 2019 Mac to upgrade your file if required and converted it.
I'd like to add some additional details about converting your .dmg file.
If you have tried to Verify and rebuild data in your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac and the program still crashes, you'll want to do the following steps:
Then, open your company file as the admin and go to the File > Export > To QuickBooks for Windows.
In addition, if you have the file saved on your computer, you can look for a .dmg converter. Please feel free to visit the Apps for QuickBooks Desktop page and search for a third-party application.

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for their help. I'm humbled.
I have taken the company file and opened it in a trial version of QB2019 for Mac. I verified the file, but was directed to rebuild. Did that, then exported it to QB for Windows. Saved on external.
I went into QB 2022 (Windows) on PC and opened the export. It asked to update the file. At this point, it keeps getting stuck at 56% and then eventually I get the error code (-1,0).
I'm not sure what to try next.
Hi there, @iznik88.
Thanks for taking the time to follow up with us and trying all the suggested steps above.
I recommend reaching out to our Technical Support Team. This way, one of our tech support agents can review the results of your rebuild and verify and isolate what's causing QuickBooks to get stuck at 56% during the export process. There may be remaining data damage in the company file causing this issue. I've included a link to connect with an agent below.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I'm always around to lend a hand. Take care!
I spent over an hour with the help team and my case was escalated to the next level team who are currently working on my company file to get it to work in my current QB for Windows. I will post what the final resolution ends up being, but was very impressed with the service thus far, and especially impressed to receive a human on the other end of the phone number I was asked to call.
Glad to hear you were able to get the assistance you needed, iznik88.
If you happen to get stuck again in the future I recommend checking out these tutorial videos for QuickBooks Desktop.
And of course help is just a comment or post away here in the Community. Take care!
