I am with you. I have been using QB since 1996 as well and have loved it for the most part. I have several small businesses in the construction industry and the online version is horrible. Now I can't find anyone who speaks english to help me. I simply want to purchase a desktop version for my Mac that I don't have to pay hundreds of dollars every year. I don't need payroll, accept payments, etc. This is so ridiculous! It infuriates me to have to explain something so simple and basic, give ridiculous amounts of information not at all relevant to selling me a software product to someone who can hardly speak english, doesn't understand what I am saying or asking for, just to keep being pushed to an online product. Is there anything out there other than Quickbooks to purchase?? I hate to have to change and migrate everything over, but I am a one person office with 5 different small companies, only one has very many transactions on a regular basis. If anyone has any information I would appreciate it.

Contacting the QB customer support has been the most difficult and infuriating experience I have had in a very long time. Isn't there a simple solution to purchasing QB Desktop 2024 without going through the hassle of talking to 4 different people who barely speak english and don't understand a very simple request or making a purchase online, like I have done countless times over the past 30 years of using this product??? If there is not a desktop version I can purchase, download and use for years without having to spend hundreds of dollars every year for a bunch of "updates" and "added features" that I do not need and do not use, then I need a new software - immediately.

Been using Quicken since 1992, and QuickBooks shortly thereafter. I have 8 clients who love the desktop, but 2 I had to move to Online. HATE IT.  Subscription is the only way to keep using it (with imports and payroll) beyond May 2024.

Dream on - those days are OVER. It's subscription only now.

You may have 3 options:

1. QB Desktop 2024 Pro/Premier Plus + QB Desktop Enhanced Payroll ($600 / year + $60/employee/year)

2. Upgrade to QB Desktop Enterprise Gold to manage 4 employees or more. Purchase the new license through select partners to get perpetual discounts for renewals.

3. QB Desktop with non subscription licenses + a 3rd party payroll app. You will register payroll expense as JE in QB Desktop. One payroll app costs $190/year + $30/year/employee but the downside is that it only supports California, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Washington.

However, quickbooks has still not put the products codes into my account so I can download the 2024 versions 

of quick books and Enterprises. 

It has been 3 months,  5 calls each 30 minutes,  putting my payment into servier to activate my product codes

As an experienced, long term user of QuickBooks Desktop (through hosting company Right Networks), I have a similar dislike for Intuit's online version of QuickBooks.  I had a long conversation with an Intuit representative that was willing to be honest.  The reason Intuit is going in this direction is because the QuickBooks software was built on a very old software platform, and it is no longer sustainable.  She admitted that their programmers are all getting old.   They literally don't have a choice but to go this route.  I was very distraught to hear about this.

That said, here is the scoop.  You need to be an Intuit subscription customer by July 31, 2024.  If so you will be grandfathered and allowed to use QuickBooks Desktop for the foreseeable future, including new software upgrades.  HOWEVER, after July 31, they will not accept any new customers for the desktop version, and you will be forced to go to the online product.  So word to the wise.  If you want to be grandfathered, make sure you buy or renew a subscription to QuickBooks Desktop before July 31, 2024
