I am not interested in Quickbooks online. I have no payroll, and don't invoice. I no longer use the online banking feature of Quickbooks because I found it to be flaky. I have been using Quickbooks desktop since 1996. I am a builder, with no employees, (a very small business). I usually sell only 1 or 2 units a year. I would only be interested in upgrading to Quickbooks desktop 2024 at a reasonable price. If that is not possible, I will find another solution to keep my books. Please understand I am a very small business with a small bottom line. Please contact me if you can help, thanks.

You can review our prices for QuickBooks on our Pricing page. If you choose to upgrade, you can do so any time.
 

Here's how:
 

1. In your top menu bar, go to Help, then Upgrade QuickBooks.
2. Pick a version you want to upgrade to.
3. Click Upgrade Now.
4. If you'd like to keep a copy of the current version you have, choose Keep old version on my computer.
5. Select Let's go.

The download will begin. Afterwards, it will be installed and activated for you. This process also updates your company file(s).

I have Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2021. I am really not interested at all  in  upgrading, but QB 2021 support is ending in May of 24. Again, I am a very small business with no employees. I don't want Quickbooks Online. $650 a year for a micro business such as mine for Quickbooks desktop Pro doesn't make sense. I only use Quickbooks to keep records of my business, to write checks, and to issue around 12- 1099s to subcontractors each year.

That method opens a web page that only offers to switch to Quickbooks online, it doesn't offer an option to "Keep old version on my computer"

I have been using Quickbooks for our small flooring business since 2003. Currently using Quickbooks Pro 2020. Our business does not need payroll or HR services or monthly subscriptions. We do 1099s. I just hung up from sales when they told me I could get the desktop version for over $600 but would have to renew every year. I have always paid less than $300 and received support for 3 years. This is a horrible way to treat the most loyal customers. If anyone has a good option, please share!

We're in similar circumstances with a small flooring company. No payroll or HR services needed because we just do 1099s. I was quoted $650 for a one year update to 2024. I have always been able to get 3 years of support and Quickbooks Pro ran around $250.

You are using QB Desktop with a non subscription license. I didn't see any specific reason why do both of you have to upgrade to QB Desktop 2024. Regarding 1099 contractors,  I can share a stand alone free billing management app to manage and pay your bills. It provides a downloadable CSV file of all your payments so you can view, classify, and export your payment history to prepare your 1099 report manually. Then you can use a free tax filing service app to proceed.

What upgrade?

I couldn't get past their AI phone answering system. All I want is to purchase the software. Too many questions. I gave up. Our clients will just have to send us documents we need. We are not dealing with this any longer. 

Same here. We are done with Quickbooks too. Our clients send us QBs files and we print out what we need. But now, they will have to provide the CORRECT documents themselves to us. Which will be difficult for many of them because Quickbooks is not longer easy to use or intuitive. 

I hear QB Enterprise is $1300 a year. That is the only option for QB 2024.  What happened to $500 a year??

What happened to $199 a year. I hear if you already have a subscription for Desktop you can call and renew / continue by July to stay on.

QB Desktop 2024 starts from $650 (i.e Pro Plus or Mac Plus for single user). You can contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA in private by email and they can help to obtain the new license. If you don't need the payroll module, they can also share an option to use QB Desktop with a non-subscription license.

Is there an external link to be able to upgrade your quickbooks desktop version?  I'm following the steps you laid out, but when I click to upgrade quickbooks, all that opens is a blank screen.  It's like the website isn't loading and I'm unable to do anything

I am in the same situation.  I have Quickbooks Premier Contractor 2021 Edition and pay for an Enhanced Payroll Subscription each year $695. I am not interested in anything online nor subscription based.  I would like to continue using my Desktop version.  I have attached a few articles with information about Quickbooks changs and alternatives.  I may look at going with Freshbook.

Keep in mind, the article is comparing between QB Online (not QB Desktop) and FreshBooks. I still prefer QB Desktop than cloud based apps. If you decide switching to FreshBooks, you may consider purchasing a 3rd party conversion service later.

Another option, keep using your QB Desktop 2021 after May 2024 + a 3rd party payroll app to lower your costs. You will register your payroll expenses as JE in QB Desktop.

I have attempted to purchase Desktop Pro, non subscription based and repeatedly am told that is not available.  If I do not provide my account information, I get hung up on....repeatedly.  Clearly they are trained to not waste the time on customers that do not desire a subscription based plan.  Further, data mining is in issue!!
