Buy nowHello there, wrfcgtreasurer. I'm here to provide some details on correcting your W-2 box 16.
Since Box 16 reports the total taxable wages you earned in that state. I recommend contacting our support team for the payroll correction. They have the tools to help you correct this.
To reach a live representative, here's how:
Alternatively, you can check out this article containing our support hours and a phone number you can call: QuickBooks Online Support.
Additionally, you can check this article as a reference about things that affect the amounts in Boxes 1, 3, and 5 of your W-2s: Understand why W-2 box amounts are different.
Please let me know if you need further assistance correcting your W-2 in QBO. I'm here to help you. Have a great day!
I have was on the phone and on chat. I have a print out of the chat that says “I will be sending an email where you can access the Tax Correction Template. Please, fill out the necessary information needed for our tax corrections team, process this smoothly”. As I stayed in my initial post, the corrections worksheet gives options for submitting changes to pay dates. There is nothing to change on the pay dates. My employee moved from one state to another during the year. His gross wages show up for one state and then partial wages for the other. Therefore the 2 states added together don’t equal box 1! The customer service people know nothing about taxes. They cannot help me.
Hey, @wrfcgtreasurer-g.
Thanks for reaching back out.
To clarify, is all of the mapping correct within the system?
This will help us determine the best solution for your business. I'll be waiting for your response!
Well. I don’t know about that. How can I check?

I'll make sure that your tax forms are correct before sending them out, wrfcgtreasure.
We can go to your Payroll Settings to review the W-2 forms if the mapping is correct. From there, you can edit the mapping as needed.
Here's how:
1. Go to the Gear icon.
2. Select Payroll Settings under Your Company.
3. Click Edit on the Accounting Preferences.
However, if the mapping is correct, I suggest contacting our Customer Care Team again. This way, they can help you create necessary adjustments to correct the W-2 form. You can follow the steps provided by my colleague above on how to reach them.
Furthermore, I'm adding these guides to help manage tax forms and payments and review filed tax forms and paid tax payments:
We'll keep this thread open if you have additional questions about W-2 form. Feel free to leave them in the comments below, and we'll ensure to get you covered. Keep safe!

Well, looks like they were submitted with the incorrect amounts. Your customer service is no help, they send me a worksheet that shows paydays. nothing is wrong with the paydays regarding box 12 OR 16. And I sent a worksheet in for a correction to box k14. changes have not been made yet w-2's show they have been submiteed.
