How do i add a subtotal line within the body of an invoice in the new quickbooks online invoice format. The old format had a simple button that would add a subtotal line into the lineitem field of an invoice. that funtion appears to be gone now?
I was just looking for the same answer... following.
The following classic invoice features are currently unavailable in the new experience:
I can share some information about adding subtotal lines in invoices, @AlpineApp.
Currently, the new invoice layout on QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't have the Subtotals option, which would be a valuable addition to our features, so I'll take note of this.

So, then the new invoicing experience is a huge step backward in functionality, when compared to the old one, which itself is a huge step backwards from the QuickBooks Desktop functionality - in turn most of which is 20 years old (and works great)!
One wonders how far Intuit will go to make QuickBooks Online truly terrible. They've already done a lot and the new and terrible just keeps coming!
Please vote on this feature here:
The issue is not "solved" when you tell the client that their concern is just flat-out being removed and then give them a bunch of nonsense they didn't ask for.
You DIDN'T solve anything on this question! Stop using "SOLVED" when it ISN'T solved!
I am very upset that this feature was removed. I need this to make my invoice.

Then you've failed.
RE: The new invoice layout on QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't have the Subtotals option, which would be a valuable addition to our features.
Yes, everyone knows that! There's no point in pointing out the obvious. QuickBooks Desktop has had subtotals (and subtotals of subtotals, and subtotals of subtotals of subtotals, and so on and so forth) for 30 years. Of course it has, because customers need them. Intuit knew that 30 years ago. How could you possibly remove them? Some doofus really needs to be fired.
I hope all my completely unnecessary bold text makes my message cleared to you.
I am following this thread because I use the subtotal and have not figured out a work around.

Different categories of merchandise are taxed at different rates. The only way to do this on a customer sales receipt is with a subtotal line added after all items taxed at one rate. I can't even enter a sales receipt properly or track my sales tax due to my state. QB Pro online sucks!
Thanks for the solution. Dragging worked...thankfully....but functionality is definitely clunky. QB, please, if you aren't going to make something work better, leave it alone.
So how many months/years will it take??
How many months/years to put a standard feature into the online version?
