I'm here to help ensure you can file your 1099s in QuickBooks Online, despina-farmhous.

As an initial step, let’s check to see if the browser has a full cache. This can often cause errors and prevent web pages from loading properly.

To start with, please open QuickBooks in a private or incognito window. This prevents the browser from saving your browsing data.

Here's how to open a private window in different browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL + Shift + N.
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press CTRL + Shift + P.

Once signed in, go back to your 1099 and file them from there. If it rectifies the issue, go back to your main portal and clear its cache to remove the browser's history or you can press CTRL+Shift and Delete key on your keyboard altogether. You may also try accessing your account using another supported browser.

Additionally, you go through this article: How to modify your chart of accounts for your 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC filing. This will provide you with more details about the 1099-NEC filing as well as the steps on how to move the payments to the new account.

Just hit the Reply button if you have additional questions. I'll be right here to help.

I tried all of the recommended steps for issuing 1099s, including trying 3 different browsers in "private" mode and clearing cache/cookies.  All of the 1099 data for contractors has been verified 3 times and there is no missing data.  I need to submit the very late 1099's online since I do not have paper forms.  Please advice.

I appreciate you following the recommended steps so you can file 1099s, dragonfly360solutions.

You can perform the steps below to e-file the late 1099 forms. QuickBooks will allow you to do it up until April 30th (February 2 to April 30).

Any forms to be filed beyond May 1st will have to be done manually.

To file it, you'll simply want to go to the Vendors page then click the Prepare 1099s button. Ensure to select only the vendor with the late 1099 form. Here's how:

  1. After clicking the Prepare 1099s button, proceed with Continue your 1099s.
  2. Go back to the Contractors section by clicking the Back button.
  3. Click the Add from the Vendor list button.
  4. Deselect the vendor or contractors that you don't need and select only the one with the late form.
  5. Click Save, then continue preparing the late 1099.

While you can still e-file the form, this will still be considered late by the IRS. I would recommend contacting them so they can assess the fees.

For reference about filing the 1099 forms, you can check this article: Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online. After you file your 1099s to the IRS with the steps above, we’ll notify you of your filings’ status through email.

You can also check your filing status anytime and view previously field forms through your 1099 E-File account.

If you're still unable to do so, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Payroll Live Team. They can pull up your account and check what's stopping you from filing 1099s.

Don't hesitate to leave a comment below if you need further assistance with submitting an additional 1099. I'll be right here to help you.
