Hello,
How do we charge our customer for mileage? We own a mobile mechanic business, and we would like to charge clients for miles traveled over 20 miles. How can we reflect that on an invoice?
We use Quickbooks plus online.
Thanks for your help and time!
Hello Courtez15!
I understand that you need to charge the mileage to your clients. Let me help you.
Currently, we're unable to make the mileage billable. What I can suggest is to create an expense transaction for the mileage and make it billable to the customer. Let's first turn on the billable expense feature by following these steps:
Then, go to the + New button and select Expense. Enter the details needed and make sure to select the Billable checkbox. Tap Save and close.
When you create an invoice by selecting Invoice from the + New button, you'll see the billable expense you created when you select the customer under the Customer dropdown. Simply click Add to add the expense to the invoice. Then, tap Save and close.
I also included this article if you need detailed steps on how to create invoices from project expenses: Invoice customers for project expenses.
