Hello, I am trying to figure out how to locate the list of vendors with account balances as of a certain date. I will also like to know how can I sort it from smallest to the largest amount outstanding.
I can help you access your vendor list so you can view their account balances, Liz.
You can run a Vendor Balance Detail report in QuickBooks Desktop to view your vendor list with account balances of a certain date.
Here's how to do it:
To sort the outstanding amount from smallest to largest, you may consider exporting the report to Excel. Then, modify the format.
I’ve attached a reference in case you want to keep the same report settings for future use: Create, access and modify memorized reports. It helps you access the information quickly to save time.
I’m always here if you need additional help with handling vendor transactions or anything else related to QuickBooks. Just let me know. Take care!
There's no need to have to deal with a detail report or to send the report to Excel to sort it.
You can do this by running either the A/P aging report or the Vendor Balance Summary report.
- After running either of the reports, change the dates at the top of the report so the beginning date is before the beginning of using QuickBooks (probably something like 1/1/2000) and the ending date is the date you want to see the as-of balance.
- Then sort the report by the Total, either ascending or descending, also at the top of the report.
RE: I can help you access your vendor list so you can view their account balances.
Nothing about your instructions helps the OP "access the vendor list".
RE: To sort the outstanding amount from smallest to largest, you may consider exporting the report to Excel.
How would you sort a detail report where each vendor's history is shown on multiple rows in groups and there's a running and total balance? I have used Excel extensively for 30 years and I don't know how to do it. Kindly let us know how this is done!
RE: I’ve attached a reference in case you want to keep the same report settings for future use
Nothing was attached.
