The issue started with just a painfully slow response to keystrokes.... taking forever to open estimates for example. Then whenever I converted an estimate into an invoice, closed the app, re-opened the program, the invoice I had created was no longer there. I did the same thing several times over a couple of days, and it was like the data was frozen on that last date, and I couldn't add anything new. So, I figured I had a corrupt file... verified, and it came back with some issues, so I rebuilt the file.... 3-4 times, and the same issue still prevails.

How big is your file size?

Not exactly sure, but I found some back up disk images that were around 62mb. My .qbmb file seemed to be around 24mb.

Go to the Help menu, then select Product Information

If your file size > 300 MB, try to condense your file. Another option, install the trial version for QBD 2020 to make sure if you have the same problem.

Thank you for getting back to the thread, @ihi1. I understand the urgency to fix this issue as soon as possible. I'm here to share some details on how we can resolve it.

In QuickBooks, large files can cause issues with their performance. With that, I agree with Fiat Lux Asia. You can condense your file to a smaller date range. QuickBooks removes the transactions that fall outside the date range you select and replaces them with new summary transactions by month. See this article for further guidance: Condense your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac company file.

Additionally, an unsupported version of QuickBooks Desktop Mac can experience performance issues. You might want to consider upgrading your QuickBooks for Mac to a newer version.

If the issue persists, I'd suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Desktop for Mac support. I'll guide you through the steps below:

  1. Open a QuickBooks account.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Help.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue to Continue.
  5. Sign in to your Intuit account and then click Continue with my account.
  6. Check your email for the single-use code and enter it to Continue.
  7. Then select a way to connect to chat with us or Have us call you.

Please refer to this article for the support schedule hours: Contact QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

I'll be around if you have any other QuickBooks-related concerns. Take care always!

I haven't condensed my file since its only 63mb. My problem seems to be an operating system incompatibility with the older software.

What is the latest non-subscription QBD Pro for Mac that I could download, 2021 or 2022? If I did that, and it works successfully, will I be able to migrate my 2019 company file into the newer version?

Good to see you back, @ihi1.

I'm here to answer your query about QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

The latest non-subscription plan you can download is the newest version (2023) for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

To download the trial, click this link: QuickBooks Desktop for Mac trial install file. But before doing so, I recommend checking that your computer meets the minimum system requirements.

Once verified and successfully installed in the trial, you can migrate your 2019 company file

@ihi1

QBD 2021 is the last non-subscription edition. You will be very lucky to even find a used license on the market today.

Sorry, but I’m a little confused. QBD Mac 2023 is a non-subscription option? I thought 2021 was the last non-sub QBD for Mac option. Can you verify or clarify? Thanks.

QBD 2023 is a subscription based software isn’t it? That’s not quite the direction I’d like to go. However, i did notice that there was a page on the intuit site that gives the option to download QBD for Mac 2021…. Seems as though its a disk image. Any thoughts on that as perhaps being an optional upgrade that may be compatible with my Mac’s OS?

Permit me to elaborate on the differences between QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) licenses, ihi. Thus, I can direct you appropriately and clear up your confusion.

The QuickBooks Mac Plus 2023 is available via subscription. Just remember to renew your company file every month to continue using it. In addition, you will receive unlimited support, automatic data backup and recovery, and other forms of assistance.

Installing the QuickBooks Mac 2021 disk image is up to you. The one-time license or non-subscription software has a three-year life cycle. For example, if you purchase a one-time license of QBDT 2021, you are advised to upgrade by 2024. If your computer's operating system is still compatible with the old product, you can continue using it.

If you consider this option, click this link to download it: QuickBooks Desktop Download for Windows and Mac 2021
