Hi there, a.tan.

I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing when trying to enter a payment reference number while paying bills in QuickBooks Online. Based on the issue you described, this may be a browser-related issue. Let me explain further so you can better understand the situation.

Specific browser settings or extensions may sometimes interfere with the functionality of QuickBooks Online, causing certain fields to be greyed out or uneditable. To resolve this issue, I recommend following these steps:

  1. Use an Incognito/Private browser: It's also worth trying to access QuickBooks Online using an Incognito/Private browser. Sometimes, issues can be specific to a particular browser, so switching to an alternative one can help determine if the problem lies with the browser itself. (Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N, Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ Shift N, Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P, Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P)
  2. Clear your browser cache and cookies: This helps refresh your browser and remove any temporary data causing conflicts. Instructions for clearing cache and cookies can vary depending on your browser, but you can typically find these options in the browser's settings or preferences menu.
  3. Disable browser extensions: Some browser extensions can affect the functionality of websites, including QuickBooks Online. Temporarily disable any extensions you have installed, and then try entering the payment reference number again. If the issue is resolved, you can identify the specific extension causing the problem and either disable it permanently or find an alternative solution.
  4. Try using a different browser: If the issue persists, try accessing QuickBooks Online using a different browser (e.g., if you are currently using Google Chrome, try using Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge). This will help determine if the problem is specific to your current browser.
